ACL: Newcastle Jets v Ulsan Hyundai

Historic first home ACL game for the Jets tonight. It's also a game they must win to have any chance at prgressing through the group stages. The rule of thumb in this comp is to win at home, draw away - so coming off a 0-2 away loss to Beijing makes this game all the more crucial.

Helping the Jets is the fact that the ACL also fits in with the start of the Korean K-League, meaning that this is the 2nd of what will be 3 games in 10 days for the Koreans.

In the face of this, they have left 12 players back in Korea from the team that was towelled 3-1 at home to Nagoya Grampus.

New strike trio Donny De Groot, Sasho Petrovski and Fabio Vignaroli showed some promising signs last week in China and can only get better with more time together. Skipper Matt Thompson has also been cleared to play.

Newcastle burned me a lot in the A-League, but I'm willing to put my neck out and say this is an ideal spot for them

Newcastle DNB @ $1.67 (6)

Newcastle ml @ $2.20 (2)

Newcastle by 2 or more @ $4.50 (1)

Sash Petrovski with a volley, borderline offside but maybe just in line. This Korean side are under the pump, Newcastle could fill their boots here tonight

Brilliant save by Covic! Low and to his left and he's understandably filthy with his defence for turning the ball over...that killed them against Beijing and nearly cost them there

Another great save by Covic. Fine shot from the Korean, it must be said..

Great save from Kim now, De Groot with a header, diving save from the 18 year old Korean 'keeper..

Free kick, about 25 out for the Korean's..

in line with LH upright

Pfft...

Striaght into the wall

Fair reflection of the 1st half. Newcastle could have scored 3 or 4 tbh.

need to go on with it now.

Another free kick for the Korean's, right in front, 25m out.

Oh dear, my 4 year old boy could of hit it better than that...

Christ the Jets are keen to give them some sighters....

4 free kicks in dangerous position in the 2H. Jets haven't quite come to terms with the Asian style of play.

Sasho off, young Jesic on, 70 gone

Time to hook Topor-Stanley, this idiot has given away 4 frees tonight

Jets now given up 21 free kicks to 7
