North Japan, the nhl controls all the media surrounding their game.  Whatever you hear, read and see by their people are lies.

Ya I think he hit the nail on the head esp at the end talking about revenue created in Canada so WHY the HELL NOT more teams IN Canada, Eh ??? IF you MOVED the Florida Panthers, who play every night in a half full (or less) arena, to Quebec City you could NOT get a TICKET!!!

It costs too much to play. So kids dont play it

and its a very regional sport

Everyone I know has a kid that plays hockey regardless of cost.  My daughter plays baseball bc I hate gary and the nhl

Ice rinks growing in US.   Parents keeping kids away from football so hockey and lacrosse are growing.

People forget....St.Louis almost moved to Saskatoon in 1990 or 91.

Get rid of Florida and Arizona.....add Quebec & Seattle.....and move Carolina back to Hartford...bring back Brass Bonanza and the Whale! ??

Hockey is absolutely growing in the states, maybe not viewership but at the youth grassroots level it certainly is. Take a look around and see where some of the up and coming stars are coming from. Florida, Arizona... Gostisbehere, Matthews..

I know most like to ignore facts when it goes against their theory or agenda, but here's some tidbits for ya.

Youth hockey participation in Arizona increased by 17 percent over the last year, growing from 3,874 participants in 2016-17 to 4,519 in 2017-18, according to statistics released by USA Hockey. The rise of Toronto Maple Leafs superstar and Scottsdale, Ariz. native Auston Matthews was surely a factor.

It's more than just youths who want to be like Matthews, though. There are now 8,617 overall hockey participants in Arizona, up 11 percent from last year, and 109 percent in the last five years.

The city of Tucson, where the Coyotes' AHL affiliate plays, has seen the largest growth. Hockey participation has increased by 433 percent in the eight-and-under age category over the past year, and 296 percent among all ages.
