Backs against the wall coming home for Ottawa. This has been a really good series and I think/hope it’s one that’ll be going on for a bit. Carolina did what Carolina does in games 1 & 2 at home. They have a great home ice and they typically play well there. In fact over the past 4 seasons (post bubble/realignment year) they’re 21-4 in home playoff games but just 8-13 on the road. I did NOT count conf finals games as those are kind of an outlier for Carolina they can’t win a conference finals game. Ottawa hung tough on the road.
Looking at this further, when they take a 2-0 series lead at home they’re just 1-3 in game 3 on the road getting outscored 19-10. The games average over 7 goals per game and the Canes give up 4.75 gpg in this spot.
Freddy Andersen is a bit of a wild card in net imo. Poor numbers over the past 3 years in Ottawa going 1-2 with a 4.71 GAA and .85 Sv%.
Again the fact Ottawa needs this game doesn’t mean they will win it. Carolina is a very good team, probably the most complete in the East. I do like the Sens, and the situation for them & the Canes historical struggles in this spot make this a bigger play for me. Sens TT over 2.5 looks good too, as does game over. Lot of vig on the TT though.
