Just FYI - Martin Biron started 2 of the 3 games this season vs Carolina (He started the last two games vs them)... Rags are 3-0 vs Canes this season. Both of these starts for Biron (won 5-3 and 3-2) vs the Canes were AT Carolina with Lundqvist picking up a 5-1 win for the Rangers AT HOME vs Canes on 11/11/11.
Next on the Rangers schedule is a HUGE game at HOME vs the surging Penguins on Thursday March 15th... giving the Rags one day of rest before facing the Pens in that showdown.
Lundqvist started all four games vs the Pens this season and played in 3 of the 4 games PRIOR to facing the Pens. In those 3 games the Rangers had at least one day to rest before playing the Penguins.
The only game PRIOR to facing the Pens in which Lundqvist DID NOT play was due to it being on B2B days... Biron got the start for the game PRIOR to the Pens game there.
So with all that said I think it's safe to say that we can expect Lundqvist in goal for the Rangers tonight.
Lundqvist is 18-8 at home so far this season... and is 10-3 at home since the beginning of the 2012 part of this season. His 3 home losses were 0-3 to Ottawa on 1/12/12... 1-4 to the Pens on 1/19/12... and a 0-1 loss to New Jersey on 2/7/12.
Lundqvist has 3 shutouts in those L-10 home wins and the Rags have picked up 4 of 10 PL wins in those L-10 home wins by Lundqvist...however 5 of his L-6 home wins have been by only ONE goal... and 3 of those L6 wins needed OT or SO to get the win.
Lundqvist has surrendered 12 goals in his L-6 home games(all wins). In those 6 games The Rags have managed to score just 16 goals in regulation time and needed extra time in 3 of thier L-5 wins at home by Lundqvist.
Overall The Rangers, as a team, have surrenderd 23 goals in REGULATION in thier L-7 games (OverAll). They went 1-1 in OT during those 7 overall games.
As for Carolina it looks as if Cam Ward will get his 8th consecutive start after missing the teams previous 5 games before his current streak. Since his return the Canes have gone 3-4 including 2-2 on a current road trip which sees them AT the Rangers tonight.
Ward has started ALL 3 games for the Canes vs the Rangers this season (losing 1-5 at NYR vs Lundqvist, 3-5 and 2-3 in regulation time both in Carolina and vs the Rags goalie Biron).
Since Ward has returned the Canes have surrendered 18 goals in Regulation during those 7 games and have gone 1-2 in extra time as well.
As for the over/under in this game tonight it is at 5 goals... I'd go with the Over 5 based on recent play of both teams... should no less than Push at 5 goals in what I expect to be a Rangers win by 3-2 or 4-3. Hopefully the Rangers can pull out a PL win but I'd feel better taking them at -1/2 goal in 1st 60 minutes... The only thing holding me back on the Rags regulation line is that Caronlina has had 5 of its L-9 games go into overtime play... they went 1-4 in those games but simply suck in extra play this season (3-15 after regulation time). Rags (-210) and Over 5 (-125) might be the best way to go.
The trends for this game makes me feel like the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz... They are pointing in every direction... and both directions at the same time...
Ha,ha,ha.
Both teams have sucked recently on TUESDAYS... Canes are 2-9 in L-11 Tuesday games.... and the Rangers are 1-4 in L-5 Tuesday games. To makes matters more confusing... On TUESDAYS Only... since Jan 24, 2012... Home Favs are just 25-26 on Tuesday games in th NHL.
I can't sleep right now so I figured I'd share while I'm looking at the games. Good Luck To All
