I live in Las Vegas, Nevada and there is NO way the NHL would work here. our former IHL and now our current ECHL teams BOTH failed. it would be a bigger wreck than Phoenix even IF we HAD a suitable Arena. NBA, maybe. NHL NO WAY

Portland Oregon should get NHL team over Vegas.

agree 100% BUT the LOGICAL expansion is in CANADA. Quebec City, Hamilton or Mississauga would ALL support the NHL better than ANY American city. Mississauga is just an extension of the Toronto metro area and that city would probably support two NHL franchises better than the LA area does their two OR the NYC area their three. don't forget that Toronto has the 4th largest population of North American cities after only Mexico City, New York, Los Angeles and just ahead of Chicago

AND according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_North_American_cities_by_population IF you add Mississauga's 713,443 population to Toronto's 2,795,060, you get  a total metro area population of  3,508,503 which is damn close to the Los Angeles area's 3,857,799. hell, Seattle @ 634,535 is smaller than Mississauga itself 

I live in Mississauga. The GTA would be great to bring another team to their are so many people that would support a new team. All the Leaf haters and with the way Leaf fans travel to support our team. Another franchise will do good.

Kansas City and Portland/or Seattle is where the new expansion will be. I will say Portland over Seattle cause they already have the arena, it wont be Seattle unless an NBA team moves there and the Sac Kings nixed that. Vegas would be a disaster for any major league franchise.

There will be no expansion in Canada. Sorry Canadians but you got the Jets and thats all you will get

Stupidity? Canada has a population of only 35 million. The state of California has a bigger population than the whole country of Canada. If you are trying to build a sport why would you go to a city in a country which the NHL already owns and has a shrinking population.

MR Oriole,actually torontos population is growing as is canada itself,and a hockey game in canada makes much more green than it does south of the border,you will see2 cities join the league,with one being from canada,and thats quebec.After all the nhl biggest tv revenue comes from canada with sportsnet buying the rights for a few billion dollars.

you obviously did NOT read the population breakdowns in this thread. Canada as a country may have less people than California BUT the Toronto metro area including Mississauga is the 4th most populous in North America AND Mississauga itself is bigger than Seattle

If that was true you would see expansion in Canada but your not. You got the Jets because the NHL could not find a viable owner In Atlanta. They did find one in Phoenix though.

actually mr oriole you will,and it is tue,maybe you should learn to read the facts before making such dumb comments lol.And phoniex has a buyout clause in its lease stating if they lose so much dollars they can break the lease and move,and guess what they are losing money,like most of tbe usa teams,infact canadas teams represent about 60% percent of all hockey related revenue.And thata all the energy i am going to give on this topic

Toronto is obviously a larger market team and they pay a lot of money to other NHL teams that are losing money. DO you actually think the Leafs are going to let another team in their territory? PLEASE! OK maybe Quebec city i will give you that for the sake of argument. Last time i checked the Western Conf is short 2 teams and Quebec is in the east do tell me who from the east is going to move to the Western Conference? Detroit? Columbus? They Just got their wish to move to the east and Nashville desperately wants into the east.

I don't think the Leafs will ever allow another team within 500 miles of them. 

If Phoenix moves it will be to Seattle or Portland.

Kansas City LOST the Scouts to Colorado who in turn lost them to New Jersey. they had an IHL team but when THAT league folded they were one of the teams to NOT go over to the AHL along with the Thunder in Las Vegas. they would probably FAIL again. ONLY city to lose a team once and THEN be successful is Denver with the Avalanche and THAT is because they had a WINNING franchise in the Nordiques

LeRinkRat what about the Sharks. Although San Jose is only 40 mins away. The fact that no one has answered my question about which team moves to the West Conf proves my point. There will be  no other team in Canada. USA is where the money is at and we always be. Until the Chinese buy us out.
