just watched cliff fletchers interview......

he was very disappointed that he couldn't pull off a bigger trade but his hands were tied because of all the no trade contracts. he did admit that he had one of the players with the no trade was willing to drop it but when he found out where his new destination would be, he declined. when asked about sundin, fletcher said that he could have gotten more for sundin than atlanta got for hossa because of the overall interest shown for mats before he declined to be traded. fletcher did state that he didn't blame sundin for what he did and he was glad to still have him. still the fact is that sundin very well could retire or sign some where else next year leaving the leafs with nothing to show for him when they could have gotten good young players and draft picks. fletcher also stated that in no way, shape or form will this leaf team be anywhere near the same starting training camp next year. he also said that buying out contracts will be a good possability. they will also look to trade players in the summer and pick up some free agents. although the leafs never picked up any players today it is good to hear fletcher realize what a mess this team is and that the players they have now just are not getting the job done....plain and simple. he said that even making the playoffs by a couple of points isn't the goal either but to be a cup contending team and to do that lots of changes are needed. i hope he is good to his words because fans like me that spend thousands of dollars a year to see these guys live deserve better than the shit we have seen this year.

Did Sundin score as was expected of him this season(once again) or not? You guys fixating on Sundin as the bad guy make me laugh. He is not the problem. Now, i know you are one of the first to knock the players which is typical but have you really looked at how Maurice could've turned things around early on when all the teams were scoring on them in the third period eventually giving up their lead and ultimately the game? i know sundin has had a good year but where has it gotten them???? i wish the they were able to trade him because there is a really good chance that he either retires or signs some where else in the off season. with the state of our salary cap no way will they be able to pay him the 6 million plus a year he will be looking for. look at the hossa trade, to me atlanta got alot better and younger which is another team the leafs have to battle for a playoff spot in years to come. if the leafs made that same trade with the pens for sundin i can honestly say i would be happy. three young kids in their early twenties with great looking futures ahead of them and a 1st rounder as well. as far as maurice goes i could be dead wrong but i think he has done a decent job with what he has to work with. i have seen some really bad hockey at the acc over the last 3 years and i want to see some inspired hockey that means something.

you guys that think sundin did the right thing makes me laugh. he could of help build our future alot quicker, but no he had to be selfish. his reason for not leaving is such a joke, he must be the only one in the league that doesnt want to win. why doesnt sundin just tell the truth. the real reason for sundin not wanting out is because he'd rather go back home alot earlier for a vacaton. and yes management did screw this team up, not the sundin deal. sundin would not sign without a no trade clause. and i do agree that Maurice should be gone. what the leafs need to do now is, buy out McCabe, Tucker, Kubina, and Raycroft and would not resign sundin with a no trade clause, if he doesnt sign because of that, then dont resign him. we need to start from scratch. also i would start playing our younger players and maybe start benching our money guys and play raycroft, we need that top draft pick, but eh thats just my opinion.

i thought fletcher did a good job today, belak for a 5th round not bad, minny to give up a 6th rounder for simon. getting a 2nd and 5th round for gill was a steal, detroit gave up a 2nd and 4th for stuart which he is twice as good as gill. and a 3rd rounder for kilger, is not bad either. what else could he do, maybe trade antropov and poni.

as he stated he wants this team to win, and by waiving his no trade could of been a great start for the next few years. he owes it to this city,we have over paid him for years, what is he a point a game player, not good enough for that kind of money we pay him. now you will say who has he had to play with. we got him mogilny, what did he, he averaged a point a game and mogilny beat him in points, we got him blake which got 40 goals last year, put him on with sundin and what does he do, nothing. he is so overated, if he was that good why hasnt he turned other players into stars, like other superstars have. sundin=selfish. and 60% of the people think that too. maybe you should think 1st.

love what Fletch said when asked about the interest in McCabe (Zero interest). And when asked about interest in Antropov and Toskala replied there was plenty of interest but these two are going to be the building blocks for the future.
