No doubt, but Brodin playing almost 29 minutes in the playoffs as a 19 year old. Played more than 2 minutes a game more during the year than any other rookie.  

I guess it's all about scoring.

Gallagher, Huberdeau and Saad named Calder Trophy finalists

don't know Gallagher. didn't see that much of him this season. Huberdeau good selection. he was about the only bright spot on the Florida roster in a miserable year. think Saad is the definate winner. does everything for the Blackhawks. already a star.

Why not Dougie Hamilton if you are going to cry about Brodin?

Being on the ice  a long time is like a guy who eats lots of innings in baseball, don;t make him a cy young award winner.

11 points and the guy plays 25 minutes a game.

Wild still suck and his +/- is nothing special

Galagher is only on the list because he plays for Montreal and yaps his mouth.

Gallagher, Brodin and Huberdeau would have been my nominations.

Gallagher might have been the most consistent forward on the Habs roster. He could have produced even more if he was given more minutes.

Niners really bringing up points for a dman and the most overrated stat in hockey plus/minus?? Brodin was impressive as hell for a 19 year old and all the advanced stats geeks were in love with him. Just think for a second: how many 19 year old dmen play 25 minutes a game?

Brendan Dillon was another very impressive rookie dman in Dallas that didn't get much attention.

What do you mean? The top 5 was pretty obvious at who people were looking at, Gallagher, Hubs, Saad, Yakupov and Brodin. Gallagher and Saad are kind of similar you can flip them if you want.

Saad just played on the best team in the league in great circumstances, neither of Hubs or Gallagher played with close to the caliber of players Saad did - Hossa and Toews.

You look at hfboards discussion where you have fans of all teams chiming in Saad is also the player most people leave off if they are wanting to include Yakupov or Brodin.

I doubt there was a runaway winner all 5 of these guys were very good.

You have very respected guys like Elliott Friedman and Bob McKenzie who put Brodin #1 overall on their list so he could have missed out by 1 point who knows

Also Saad at least played shorthanded while Hubs or Gallagher didn't. But even though he was playing well at the start he had like no points for a chunk of the beginning of the season. Gallagher's production was far more consistent and imo played a bigger part in the teams success.

Seriously?  Suter was a +2 and he's even money to win the Norris.   You play half the game for a team that doesn't score and that's the way it goes.  

The fact that he played alongside Suter mean he faced the top scorers from other teams EVERY night.  Apparently you're smarter than this voter:

You are a homer.  The WEST has no top scorers.....
All the scoring is in the East.

Why is Conacher not on the list?

Its not like Saad or galagher played any better.

The award becomes stupid in a shortened season.

Suter for norris is another joke.

No one is scared to play Minnosota and they have the Norris and Calder winners.  Best D man pair.
