Iceman's OHL picks

Well well well, had a very pleasant surprise when I was looking at hockey lines at Pinnacle and I saw they now offer OHL lines!  This is big for me because being from northern Ontario, I know this league like the back of my hand.  If you see my avatar, it's the logo for the Soo Greyhounds, my local OHL team, so I am very knowledgeable.  This gives me a distinct edge so I am going to start making plays on here and if you all want to tail, your welcome to.  The lines will be soft because I don't think linesmakers know alot about this league and based on the lines I am pretty confident of that fact.  The limits are low ($200), so be wary of that however money is money and my wagers will be to win 1 unit on faves and bet 1 unit on dogs.  1 unit = $100.  Also, they only offer 3 way lines on the ML, no OT included however they do have a 0 line on the spread so if the game is tied and goes to OT you get your bet refunded.  Which is nice to have.

With all that out of the way I have one solid play tonight which I already bet. 

Peterborough Pete's -1 (-114)

This line is way off.  The Pete's should be one of the top teams in the Eastern conference and the Batallion will struggle to make the playoffs.  -1 at such short odds is a gift.  Pete's should work n by 2 or 3 here, even though they are on the road.

I am also leaning Saginaw over Niagara. 

Bear in mind, they do not offer OT included lines, these are strictly regulation time, so the Petes in this case have to win by 1 to push or 2 or more to win in REGULATION.  Just keep that in mind.  Having said that, they should win by a couple in regulation.

1-0, +1.0 units.  Give credit to North Bay goalie he kept the Batallion in it until late but the Nick Robertson show took over and the Pete's got 3 late goals to cover by a couple.

Already have leans for tomorrow but need to see lines first.  

Locked in two bets so far, still looking at the card:

Flint Firebirds -0 (-113)  * if its tied in regulation, you get your bet refunded.

Love this pick.  Line is off IMO.  Guelph is going to be a bad team this year, while Flint is improved.  Apart from their opening day loss to my Greyhounds, the Firebirds have been playing good hockey.  Only way this bet will lose if if Guelph wins in regulation, which I just don't see happening.

Barrie Colts -0.5 (-107)

Again, taking the better team here.  Barrie has had a great start to their season.  Apart from their one bad game against Owen Sound they have been stellar.  Sarnia on the other hand is struggling, losing their first three of the season.  Barrie is clearly the better team here and only have to win in regulation.

What book are you using?  The -0.5 line is only -109

I think your looking at the 0, or pk line.  I took Barrie -0.5, which means they have to win in regulation.

i use bookmaker and have barrie at -156 and flint -110 -they don't have any other options.  Some of the other ohl games are -+ 1 and -+2.5 -+2.

I am with Pinnacle, suprisingly they offer many options, including ML, handicap, totals, first period ML and totals, etc.   Limits have also been increased as well, but that happens closer to game time.

I am going to add one more play to the equation:

Kitchener Rangers +101

The Rangers are starting off the season slow, but that should change now that the Panthers have returned Greg Miereles to them.  Him along with Yantsis should put up a ton of points this season and the Rangers should be at the top of the Western conference.  Even without Mireiles the Rangers are the better team despite their slow start but add him to the lineup and I give them an extra edge.  At first I was going to pass on this game, but I am now getting + money and that is good value.

2-0-1, +2.1 units

An almost perfect night with Flint giving up a goal to Guelph in the last minute of regulation time. Man I wish they offered OHL with OT as I got a push with Flint even though they won in OT. It's kind of frustrating but what can you do and at least we get OHL lines.

Still can't complain another good night, brings me to a profit of +3.10 units on the season.

Thanks Jess yeah being from a hockey mad OHL town in Sault Ste Marie, the OHL is King around these parts.  Obviously I'm not going to win every game all I want is for my wins to exceed my losses as does everyone else and I do believe I have an advantage over the books in that I know what is a bad line.  All my plays took advantage of bad lines.  The Colts should have been favored by more and getting the Kitchener Rangers at + money when they are expected to be tops in the west conference is an advantage I will exploit.  

Lets keep the train rolling, only 2 plays today:

Oshawa Generals -1 (-115)

Line should be Gens -2 here, the class between these two teams is pretty big.  Also, Oshawa will be getting Serron Noel back, who was returned by the Panthers.  I can see the Gens winning by a couple here.

Soo Greyhounds/Sudbry Wolves OVER 8 +108

I know my hounds very well and, while its to unpredictable to me to pick a side for this game, I do love the over.  Both these teams are putting pucks in the net.  The last 3 wolves games have gone over this number, with an average of 12.6 goals per game, and 9 goals per game average for the Hounds.  This one should be a barnburner of a game.  I will be attending as well, so being able to have some action on this will give that extra excitement.

I think that's a good bet as well I took it -1 just in case it's a 1 goal win but I feel Oshawa should win by 2 or 3.  Hamilton is not that good and Oshawa will be at the or near the top of the Eastern Conference

darn ... i thought we had that Over, especially since bookmaker only had it at 7.5 and it looked like the score stayed at 7 forever.

Thats how it goes sometimes. 5 goals in the first period, only 2 in the second and that was it.  Can't believe I didn't at least get a push on it.  Lots of chances to score, Taylor replaced Propp in goal for the Hounds and he really shut down the Wolves.  Can't believe the hounds didn't tie it up.  Oh well it is what it is.  Ended up even today as the Gens covered the puckline by a couple goals.

Still looking at the card for today's games.  May or may not have a play.  All these games can go either way imo. All my leans carry heavy juice and I'm just not willing to risk anything over -130.

My leans are Kitchener, Windsor and the Pete's.  But no plays as of yet.
