I've been looking at this for a few days now about this match-up an where does Boston have an advantage? They are overwhelmed in every aspect of the game. Bostons D in my opinion isn't overall better. They have a better top pairing with Seidenberg an Chara but Vancouvers depth at D gives them more than the edge. An Beiska has been playing better than any D-man in the playoffs  with his good D an providing alot of offense. The Canucks have just as much speed if not more than any team Boston played, along with the most size an physicality Boston has seen. Bergeron is Bostons best all around player. Ryan Kesler is Vancouvers. Hes like Bergeron but with 41 goals an a Selke trophy finalist, an a conn smythe possiblilty if they win. Power plays is a joke. Such a mismatch. Wont even waste time discussing that/ If you break down each line of each team, its a mismatch up an down. The depth of the Canucks is outstanding. The goaltending is the only even thing. However Luongo has been consistently awsome since game 7 vs Chicago where Tim Thomas has either been great or subpar. Even if Thomas played like he did vs Philly which was spectacular it still wouldnt be enough. Vancouver can play Bostons style of game too, a low scoring defensive game an win, like vs Nashville. while Tampa couldn't win that type of game. The rest will also benifit Vancouver at this point of the year. Erhoff an Rome will be back playing, an even Malholtra may be back. Vancouvers time is now. They dominate this Boston team in almost every area of the game.  Luongo is hot,  the Sedin';s are hot, the Nucks have gotten better every series. I could see a 4 game sweep. But I'll call it in 5 games for Vancouver. Im ready to  lay this series price large.

Im ready to  lay this series price large.

good w/u similar to what i would have thought of saying

in the sharks series the Sedin's were a combined +8. Which goes back to my point of this team getting better an certainly the San Jose series was the Sedin's coming out party. Also the Canucks actually have a power play that hits over 8.6%  of the time. So those goals don't give them  a +. All Bostons goals are +'s, because they don't have a power play.

canucks depth sometimes doesnt show up especially if they lead. thomas is a better goalie than luongo.

I think boston wins the cup

boston already beat canucks in the regular season 3-1, so we dont know how the canucks will handle boston in all angles it remains a mystery.

it won't play out the same. insanity = doing the same thing over and over again expecting a diff result.
    gl using reg season stats.
i'll give u one positive lucic is a van boy and will be fired up as he did that game to play against his hometown
aside from that it is all downhill. kaberle/boychuk?
and the goaltending disparity right now in its current form is almost a wash.
but u have said the same things over and over again. bol

How the hell is Boston going to compete?

IF the refs don't call any interference like in game seven, they will be just fine.

The Canucks have also really taken control of every series from the start. Up 3-0 on Chicago, yes they lose focus but learned from i t an closed it out in 7. Were up 3-1 on Nashville, again let the Preds get it to 3-2 but the Nucks didn't let it get out of control. Then the Sharks, the 2nd best team in the playoffs, are also put in a 3-1 hole an the Nucks buried them in 5. They have that killer instinct now an they have really controlled every series the have been in, 3-0, 3-1, 3-1

I will say that based on what i saw in the conference finals Vancouver should win handily, but that's only because Thomas was very suspect against Tampa. If he turns it on this will go 6 or 7. Regardless of who wins neither team looks as good as the past 4 or 5 cup winners. I'd say this is a down year in terms of elite play in the conference finals & probably the cup. I thought the best series i saw were Detroit/San Jose & Chicago/Vancouver early on. The level of play hasn't been the same as in past years. Having said that, i hope the Canucks win just because they have gone 0-2 & Canada deserves a cup.

For every action their is a reaction. The Canucks have more players negative on the +/- ratio because they're an offensive minded team which can leave them vulnerable at times, defensively.  Boston plays a tighter style while looking for their spots to capitalize. Most offensive minded teams will have more negatives on the +/-. However, if you'll notice, Vancouver is an excellent two way team which is obviously noted statistically by their G/GAA. This concept isn't rocket science....purely elementary which is why I'm surprised you made this post.

However, it's completely premature to even think of lableling Vancouver a Stanley Cup champion at this point. Boston can and probably will frustrate Vancouver in the same manner in which Nashville did and they have a few more playmakers than Nashville. The question will be whether these playmakers will be able to capitalize on Vancouvers mistakes which, imo, makes Luongo the X factor for this series. Thomas is steady and we have expected him to bring his A game every night. Luongo.....who knows what we can expect.

Hockey purists/enthusiasts should appriciate this matchup for the finals as we have offense vs defense which should provide quite a chest match throughout the series. I'm not too sure that playing the unders in this series will be the ultimate guarantee. Many variables will be involved so cap these individual games accordingly.

Meh ya the Bruins D isn't pretty but they are very methodical at getting the puck out something the Sharks pathetic defenseman couldn't do.  Boston plays a great defensive system and I have been to a ton of Canucks games this year and their Defense gets rattled against elite and physical forchecking teams in the Bruins- Marchand, Kelly, Peverly etc. can all get in there with their speed and then you got the physicality and bruising grind game of the Bruins that will wear on the Canucks

I've seen Bostons defensive game break down  against Tampa several times. They aren't consistent enough. An the Bruins shot on Boucher, Roloson,  now Luongo. Thats a little step  up in class. Luongo will be great. Nashville played the best D you could play in the plaoyffs along with Rinne who played maybe the best round of any goalie an they still found themselves down 3-1 an lost in 6. I don't know if its offense vs defense. I think the Nucks have the better offense by a mile an can play just as good defensivley. That power has to catch up  to Boston now to. You can't hit 8.6% in the playoffs an win the Cup. An it won't get better. AMD you have been almost everytime, but even you said, maybe not exactly but along these lines of "Tampa vs Vancouver would be a better series".

Wow I guess Richards and Carcillo were soft Teddy Bears they don't call them the Broadstreet Bullies for nothing.

Trust me the Bruins will put that clown Torres on his ass with the amount of bruisers they got.

Honestly Lapierre is probably the only Canucks who's edge worries me cause he can get under Boston's skin.
