Johnny....the Devils looked like the Lowell Devils of the AHL and have for the past 10 games or so....they do this every year!

They looked so bad last night I was at a loss for words.

Without Paul Martin and Clarkson, this team loses alot.

That's not true...Parise could have scored 5 or 6 that game. He made them look silly....and then yesterday was a no-show.

I was very choked about White being sent out, Hagman, Mayers I really couldn't give a...  White being the only + D man on the Leafs said alot to me, especially with his style of play, jumping into rushes and the perfect trailing man.

I watch the Flames closely and haven't been impressed with Phaneuf at all this year, lol ever since Avery made a crack about his woman he's been shit.  That being said look at his last few coaches, Keenan and Sutter...could you have two bigger stone face'd pricks behind the bench, and it's true if they don't like you, life is gonna suck.

I think getting traded was the best thing that could happen to Phaneuf and I think he'll shine as a Leaf, yeah he had some give aways last night but at least he gave the team a bit of an edge, a chip on his shoulder and if they lose it won't be without a hard nosed effort out of him.  I think Wilson will work great with him and get him back on track as a premier D man in the league.   Loads of talent and grit just needs his head put back on straight.

Freddie Sjostrom will make an big impact on this team where they need it most, the PK... As well establish a role player system that is needed on ANY team that plans on winning hockey games.  The Leafs have to get away from the plug-n-play guys they've had for years, use players for their strengths and establish roles on this hockey team.

The Giguere trade is a no brainer move, get rid of Blake's contract, and Toskala who has under achieved since day one... Giguere is a great position tender who has had problems with the staff in Anaheim for quite some time now, if you don't think it affected his play your crazy.   He's reunited with his former goalie coach Francois Allaire  who was with him at his best days in Anaheim.  You won't see him give up rebounds, he'll be a calming factor for the troubled Leafs D and in my opinion will be the most noticible improvement out of all.

Burke gets an A- on these deals....would be an A+ if he had some picks coming over as well.

Hey Hunt great thread Bud you know i'm not a hater. This trade could workout for both teams IMO Phaneuf won't be missed much in Cal with the D they have. I just don't want to hear about Giguere being a solid netminder now that he's with TOR. Ya he got the S.O. but he sure wasn't tested even if they had 30 shots not many were top quality. If i had a dollar for everytime I heard a capper in this forum say I don't like ANA tonight because Giguere is starting i'de be RICH. Anyway Hunt good to see you again BUD.

Atleast TOR got in the Win column last night my Bruins I don't know anymore.

Those two have been out forever. They started to suck the minute Elias was carried of on a stretcher.

How is FINGER making $3.5 million.

Thats the Leafs problem signing guys not worth that much money.

Blake has 1 good season on the Island and they sign him $5 and this year $4.5 mil

And why are the LEAFS still paying $1 million to Darcy Tuckers contract per year til 13/14 season. How stupid is that.

Again the LEAFS fucking are paying big money on D.
They did this 3 years ago and didn't work out to well did it.

Komisarek $4.000  (wow did Markov make him look good)
Beauchemin $4.200  ( wow did C.P. and S.N make him look good.
Phaneuf  $6.500
Finger $3.500     Who gave him this contract. WOW

Kaberle $4.250

How does Phaneuf make 6.5?

Has one of the highest giveaway/takeaway ratios in the league, especially for D-men.  Has one of the lowest block shots totals amongst D-men. Locker room cancer.

That's the real question.

Elias hasn;t been there even close to all season....nor has he been over past couple of years...injury riddled.

No Paul Martin means nobody on the point that can accurately get the puck to the net.  You notice the Devils cycle tons and always use their pointment.   Last night they tried, but the D-men's shots were either blocked, weak or wide of the net.

Clarkson is more an emotional leader than anything.  Elias hurts more in the offensive columns.

They are just in a slump....every team goes through it.

The success isn't measured in turning the puck over 6 times.  Take a pill.

Hey Kid...Believe me a know the Leafs still have a ton of work to do to become respectable but for the haters to say that these deals are horrible for the Leafs is the reason I started this thread. They got rid of alot of dead wood and still have more to go.

As far as your Bruins, they have all their players back now and just need to get their legs back, win a few and get some confidence. You guys are going to get a hell of a player from us in the upcoming draft...no two ways about it.

That was said at the beginning of his regime, and if anything they have gotten worse.

You make that claim from one effing game!  So now Phaneuf has brought this new attitude to the team....right...glad to see you are just like every other Leaf fan.  Making bold statements after one game in a Leafs uniform.

That's the real question.

There are alot worse contracts out there than his...how about Danny Briere making 10 million a year with the Flyers. How about Thomas Vanek in Buffalo at 10 million or close to it.

Why do you keep saying he was a cancer in the dressing room??? Do you personally know some of the Flames players who told you so. When they had an extensive interview yesterday with Sjostrom he kept saying the exact opposite of what your saying without even being asked about the situation. Lots of guys have been pegged by the media as being a cancer and then change teams and prove to be the exact opposite.

I'm not sure why you have such a hate on for this guy other than he plays for the Leafs now.

Yes, there are other worse salaries in the league no doubt....doesn't change anything.

It's well documented my friend...between him and Sutter.  Between him and Regher.....and the nickname given by his own teammates.

PS I hated Phaneuf just as much in Calgary....now I just get to enjoy it more now that he's in T.O.

Call me a hater all you want, but ive bashed guys on my own team and praised certain Leafs.

And of course Sjostrom would say that!

What do you expect him to say "Yea Dion is a real ass I wish he hadn't been traded with me"

 I'll watch this system closely

Sure T.O got beefed up on Defence, but will Giguère regains his game?  And personnaly, Phaneuf his over-rated so....

If T.O can get decent scoring, they'll move up the ranks but to be in the playoffs.....if they battle my Habs, they might have a shoe in but else they won't make it.

I knew this was coming...They asked Sjostrom what he thought were the strong attributes that Phaneuf brought to the table and he said more than once that he is a great dressing room guy and a leader by example amoung other things. He never even had to mention about the dressing room but he did anyways.

What a surprise...Its the Maniac...I wouldn't get to cocky about your Habs with the loss of Cammy. He was about the only true goal scorer you guys had. Maybe Halek can stop 50 pucks a night and you guys can squeak into the playoffs only to get destroyed in 1st round like last year.
