Soapbox time. How many times am I going to tell myself to learn from history? Ok, I am not saying it is right all the time, but I would be willing to guess it is correct 75% or better. All this time capping, thinking, looking for edges and basically it is all in the numbers imo. Let me just review yesterday:
Flyers have only won ONE of their last 4 home games vs Caps. Yep, numbers continued.
Swords/BJ's 7 of the last 10 have been OVERS. Yep, numbers continued
Flames are 7-2-1 the last 10 meetings. Yep.
Here's the one...it would be just like the Rangers to go to Vegas and get the 2 points. Now this one was not a number but individual thought and I didn't play it.
Nucks are 8-2 last 10 vs Sharks AND In fact the Nucks are not scored less than 4 goals in 8 of the last 10 meetings. That's 2 yep's.
This is not me, these are the numbers. And if you read Puck Talk regularly, you know I keep going back to the numbers on a regular basis. Sure, you get those nights that they don't align but what I am seeing by doing this daily is the numbers (not all most greater than 60%) tell the tail. I realize everyone has their methods of capping and I am not one to question or say one is better than the other. But, I need to trust the numbers more often.
Off the Soapbox. Remember I said the Hawks would finish last yesterday, think the BJ's might give them a run. Actually, the last 10 minutes of the 2P they just looked defeated and didn't give a crap. At least in the 3P they came out with a little determination. Can't speak of the rest as I went to sleep. I did awake to see there were goals galore in Edmonton and San Jose. Is it me or is the late games really having fireworks recently? Did see some highlights of the Avs. Man, not the same team as we are used to right now. Oh, only ONE Dog showed up last night, Rangers.
Light schedule for a Thursday, guessing due to holidays coming up. Does Rustie continue to keep his head in the clouds tonight? Kings came out firing the other night in Ottawa but it is the D for the Leafs that has been the most impressive part of their game. Numbers say in the last 10, Leafs are 5-3-2, but Kings are 2-1 last 3 games. Will have to dig deeper but the Leafs at home are allowing 2.46 GA and just 26 SOG. Saw Samsonov should be in net. Prop bet on Marner getting a point? Tampa slept walked vs Wings the other night and now get the Preds. NOTE: Preds have had 5 days OFF since their last game. Tampa is 8-2 last 10 vs Preds, including 3-0 the last 3 and avg. 3.90 GF/G. The Wings have been sitting in sunny Florida for several days waiting on the Panthers. Florida is 8-2 last 10 vs Wings, including 3-0 the last 3. The last time the Wings won in Florida was 02/2021. 6 of the last 10 meetings have been UNDERS but these are two different teams.
Jets visit the bi-polar Blues. Seriously, the Blues might be the hardest team to cap and bet on. They have the ability to show up and beat anyone or the ability to just crap the bed. Numbers say the Jets are 6-2-2 last 10 meetings, including 3-0 the last 3. Jets GF the last 4 meetings: 4, 4, 4, and 4. Another stat, the Jets have won the last 3 trips into St. Louis. Pesky Sens travel to Big D tonight. Dallas with 2 loses in a row, including getting shutout by the Mighty Leafs. Stars should be pissed and it'll be a cake walk, right? Well, the numbers say the Sens are 8-2 vs Dallas the last 10 meetings, including winning the last 3. (I know I say trust the numbers, but I have a hard time with this one). The last 3 meetings have been UNDERS and 7 of the last 10 meetings have been UNDERS.
