It was shocking news that Jedd Reed, the Steelers kicker, and undoubtedly one of the best in the game, was released today....He had just signed a Big contract putting him up there with the best...One thing about it---Mike Tomlin takes no crap, and after 2 drunken bar scuffles earlier this year, plus his foot hitting 6 inches behind the ball on an attempted field goal from only 20 some yards out on Sun. night vs. N.E.,, and shanking it, H'ES GONE...Will be picked up "PRONTO!"....We'll never know all of the details about his release, we never do, something else must have been going on too!

Why is his release such a surprise. He should be cut and it has little to do with off field antics. He's missed several field goals now and not just at Heinz field. Missed a 40 yd at New Orleans. While they are at it, they should bring in a few O and D line guys given the injuries to the starters, as their second team replacements suck.

Not shocking. People expect kickers to make kicks and be quiet. Reed wasn&#x27;t doing either.  Remember that dildo from Indy? He was good, but over-estimated his worth when he got mouthy.

He&#x27;s a good kicker...mistake on Pitts part...they should have just dealt with his attitude and antics and kept him...maybe he wanted out of there....in the end I think it&#x27;s Pitts loss.

&#xD;&#xA;i really don&#x27;t see what was so bad about that interview, he commented on how crummy the field is, he certainly isn&#x27;t the first to do that, there was a game there several years ago where i remember teams punting the ball and wherever it hit it died, no roll on the ball what so ever, the field in pittsburgh has always sucked

It isn&#x27;t just about the interview. Reed has had several issues over the past couple of seasons. Harder to overlook things like that when you aren&#x27;t making kicks.
