Hey the Chargers beat the +5 point spread in that week 11 game against the Steelers 11-10. They could have lost by another 3 points and I'd still be happy. ;P

Its my money, will not be the first time I lost a bet and definitely not my last, that's how the football betting bounces.

Plus my weegie board says the Chargers cover.

I'm flat out telling you the truth.  The Vikes botched that pick, but it was because the Ravens backed off the trade.  That was why Minnesota got skipped.  As a Raven fan, I'm surprised you don't know that because they talked about it on radio talk show a bunch (in B-More - WNST).  If I'm lieing, I'm flying!

im just kidding about the voodoo stuff. europa thought i was jinxing the steelers by sticking up for them..so i made that joke...

but seriously, the chargers really didnt cover. if you remember the game then you remember the mother of all horseshit calls at the end of the game. # 43 had a td taken away witch would have ruined that spread. i havent had the chance to complement the chargers due to my starbucks filled rant's eariler,so let me say that im not underestimating what the chargers bring. its going to be a great day for watching football.....nerve racking but still the best entertainment one can have in thier livingroom..

Well I like the Steelers and they have been one of my favorite teams for years. I think the Steelers Offensive Line gets a bumb rap. I really dont think they are a bad as everyone thinks. I will admit they arent the best, but when you have a QB like Big Ben who holds on to the ball way too long in hopes of making the big play, its only logical to say that he is going to get sacked. But again who's fault is that. If Ben throws the ball away instead of trying to make a lemon into lemonade, then he wouldnt be the most sacked QB in the league. And with all that said, Big Ben still gets the job done and finds ways to win. That happening over and over again is more than luck. Ive seen some pretty interesting points made here on this thread and its all info that needs to be digested and then a educated guess or pick must be made. I dont think Chargers have what it takes to beat the Steelers. I think LT has no heart and Rivers though hes a stud cant do it alone. I think Ben will have success throwing the ball against the Charger secondary, and arent they banged up a bit. How much can you depend on Sproles game in and game out. I think if anyone is overtated its LT. He always seems to be hampered by injuries just when you need him. In crucial spots he is always on the sidelines and not on the field where they need him.  Anyways no disrespect, I think Steelers will be able to Run and Pass against the Chargers. Ben even though he is injured expect him to play because thats the kind of competetor he is... Which ever way it goes BOL to all..

here is a good angle to 'cap the games.

Take each teams last 7 games and look at the
points allowed.

From the 7 , extract the highest and lowest points
allowed and then take the remaining 5 games add those
points together and divide by 5 and match the teams up.

The STEELERS and CHARGERS have the biggest
point differential and its 11 points, Steelers 10 ppg
and chargers 21 ppg.

I think this will be a close game.  I definetely give Pittsburgh the edge on defense they are one of the best ever.  I really believe that is the reason they are playing at home.  San Diego's defense has improved but its secondary is weak.  That being said Steelers like to dink it out passing and don't really stretch it out, average completed pass is 7+ yards with an average gain of about 9.  I give San Diego the edge on offense, Rivers passed for over 4,000 yards and had the highest rating in the NFL (105).  Most of the Charger offensive stats are in the top 10. Bens rating is 80.1.  Steelers really don't have a strong running game, even without Tomlinson I think the Chargers will do better on the ground with Sproles, Hester, Bennett etc.  Offensive line has improved also. I give the edge in special teams to San Diego with Sproles and Sciefres.  I think it will be close, with Steelers definitely having the edge, but I think 6 is toooo much.  Good luck.

i'm sorry, but you are going to lose your "house" on the chargers +6! big ben will have 300+ yards passing against that charger weak secondary and the steelers will win 31-21! on their way to another super bowl!

It amazes me how easy it is for people to criticize Ben Roethlisberger.

Let's see...

* 13 wins as a rookie and a 15-1 record.

* Super Bowl win in 2nd season. And, who cares what he did that day other than WINNING. I seem to recall he had three very dominating games against Cincy, Indy and Denver on the road. Oh, yeah, great clutch tackle, too, in Indy.

* 51-23 career record as a starter (this might not be exact but it's close).

* It would have been easy to fold at this point in his career but he shows great poise and maturity by providing a 32 TD / 11 INT season, division crown and HE didn't lose that game to JAX last year.

I don't know about all you critics but I want my QB to win more than anything else. People who criticize him for an occasional bad game are "not exactly the most knowledgeable football fans out there".

umm... what has philip rivers won in the NFL?

Enough said.

i think your underestimating the steeler offensive potential.dink it up.. ...im not so sure i would stick them with that tag. they do have ability to go down field. in not calling them the greatest show on turf or anything..but they can score quickly. willie parker is near 100%. that alone makes things easier for the passing game, i wouldent rule out the steeler offense contributing to a victory this weekend. i agree with you mikef11....-6 is not making me feel comfortable. id like to tease sd to +13 and add the other game in some fasion. i also think this game will be close. cant wait to watch..

I don't see that game being a shootout, the weather should be cold and a physical game, I can see the game being 17-14, 17-10 Steelers.

I don't think the Chargers will score many points against that defense.

Yeah its only stupid if you can't understand that SD has beaten everybody they faced in the playoffs the last 2 years except NE.

And now SD is streaking, 5-0, at the right time. So how much playoff experience does that add up to? They're not Atlanta, Miami, Tennessee, Minnesota. Are you following this - its called experience or in other words how will a player/team perform under intense pressure. There is a reason 3 of the 4 teams I listed are gone from the playoffs and its a matter of time before Tennessee is gone too.

It's stupid because if not for the Colts and Giants the Pats would be talking about having won 5 of 7 Superbowls.

The first year the Chargers lost 1st fuking Divisional round even without the Pats they would of had to win 3 games to be Champions, last year minus the Pats they would of had to win 2 games, so that's 5 fuking postseason games you are giving the Chargers with Marty and Norv as HC.  Yeah, nice argument.

a 8-8 team in the playoffs is terrible and how New England is more deserving.  How’s that being “overrated”?  You don’t know what you’re talking about if you say this.

This Pittsburgh QB is overrated.  In fact, I am not sure if there’s a more overrated player in sports (not just the NFL) than this guy.  The dude is not even the best QB on his team.  He’s a backup QB, at best, in the NFL.

San Diego +6 (LARGE) if Big Ben plays

No Play if Big Ben doesn’t play

he's only super bowl proven.  this is stupid.

Big Ben is gonna start.  Bet the house on SD.  If for some strange reason Leftwich starts, bet the house, car, and the old lady on SD.

You're insane if you think Byron gives the Steelers a better chance.  Comin' from a Steeler fan, do not feel safer with Ben starting.  But 6 is too many points.

By the way... you saying that Ben is a backup is the funniest thing I've ever heard.  Thank you for the laugh.

SD will be reminded Sunday of what it's like to play a real defense.  I'd wish you luck, but I hope Pittsburgh wins by 4 touchdowns.  I'll be there.

The Steelers actually won that game by 8.  The refs took away the last TD and admitted five minutes later that it was the wrong call.  Just sayin'...

thats just it I don't argue with covers experts like yourself. In all honesty an argument can be made for every aspect of a game. But right now, today, SD is the better team. And if Pitt is so dominant why did they beay the Chargers by 1? Why not by 20 when SD was obviously struggling.

Steelers win by 17!  Ive noticed when the Qb is in question or Leftwich comes in, the defense really steps up & plays with turn overs.

You can make an argument for anything, doesn't mean it's a good argument.  Also, how the hell can you say SD is the better team?

Pit is 6-1 in their last 7

SD is 5-2 in their last 7

Pitt Offensive stats 432 total yards, 300+ passing, and 100+ rushing

SD offensive stats 230 total yards 164 passing, 2 ints and 66 rushing

Penalties, Pitt 13-115.......SD 2-5

Looks like they dominated to me.

BOTH BIG BEN AND LEFTWICH ARE AVERAGE AT BEST... NOT SURE WHAT THE ARGUEMENT IS ABOUT. TO BIG BEN'S CREDIT, HE HAS WON A SUPERBOWL. NOT MANY QB's CAN SAY THAT... BUT RIVERS WILL THIS YEAR!!!
