John Riggins, Legendary Washington Redskins running back demands his name be removed from the new Washinton jerseys. The following are quotes from Riggins regarding his name removal and the new name of the Washington NFL franchise.
“I feel completely disenfranchised. I can’t understand how anyone who once played under the old franchise name could possibly want to be a part of anything to do with the Washington Commanders,” Riggins, who was a star rusher for the Washington Redskins in the 1970s and 1980s, said.
“That makes me feel filthy,” Riggins added. “I feel dirty, I don’t want anything to do with it. Maybe I will change. Maybe I need a little more time, I don’t know. It just doesn’t feel right to me.”

Doug Williams and the corporate staff gooing all over the new name. Giving all the reasons why it was the absolute correct choice. Looking at Doug Williams giving it that
"taking one for the team" kind of face. They knew it stunk......but all the little soldiers were lined up and taking there orders.

Should've been called the Washington Commodores at least if they wanted a military theme... Commodore is Navy right? Maryland is rich in that naval tradition..
Who are the Commodores? Who? You mean the Motown group? No I'm talking about the football team! Oh I had a Commodore 64...
Sip on that plus money honey!

A reference to our commanders in chief. A dementia patient, A showman, A killer of Yemenis, an alcoholic, an adulterer etc. Riggins is right. Not being political but really look at the last 20+ years of Commanders in chief.

They said the other name is racist...then they name the team after the military that killed all the Indians. You're being played and made a fool of. Probably won't even have football anymore.
That's not even a uniform.
They'll blame racism and fixed games and player injury and football will be gone

As I said before. The name is hypocritical.
