New York vs New Orleans

Can someone tell me exactly why people are so impressed with the saints.  They beat the hapless lions but still gave up almost 30 points.  They beat the eagles without mcnabb in a game that Kevin Kolb was a turnover machine but still threw for 390 yards.  The Buffalo game they were not at all impressive.  They only had a 10-7 lead at the end of 3 quarters and scored a couple of meaningless td's to make it look like a blowout against an atrocious Bills team.  And then against the Jets they scored 7 points against a defense that got lit up by Miami.  Sanchez gift wrapped that game for them. Saints are the same 8-8 team as last year. Dont believe the hype. this week they play a real team with a real QB.  Giants win 37-20.

agree with drew brees is a best QB now... but Giants still a best team for me now.... ( mayb colts )  people keep saying manning not 100%.. how about 95%..?  enough ? manning just played around 20 mins last 2 game... and they still blow out opp.. and thes last thing is football game play by 52 player and coach.. Giants hav a best 52 now...

best 2 teams in football are the Colts and Saints... with that being said Saints will win here

I agree the play here is the over. That being said, anyone that thinks the Saints are going to beat the Giants is nuts! You have to give the Giants the edge in everything. The Saints are scoring big time on offense but not against a defense like the Giants. So bet the over and if you want a 2 teamer take the Giants as well.

i concur.  thee is about 80 percent bets on giants and moneyline. but the line is going towards new orleans.  new orleans is also coming off a bye too.  saints in a blow out. they win by double digits easily. 

Saints are finaly 100% healthy for this weeks game. Mike Bell, P Thomas , and Reggie will be all getting action this week.  Why everyone makes up excuses for Jets and Philly loseing to Saints?  Kolb doesn't play D.  Sanchez doesn't play D?  Saints D is legit and we will see it once again this weekend.  The only descent team Giants beat so far r the Cowboys by 3? LoL .

i will most likely lay off this, but i need a SU winner of rmy year long pool and this and the Minn/Balty game are giving me fits.

That is a pretty big stat for such a small lil guy

 I'm as diehard a Giants fan as there is so w/ that said  this analysis is difficult to accept.  I know this Giants team inside and out I watch their games on game day then at least twice more early week each and every week of the season.  The Giants have a significant weakness on defense when they are spread out and Pierce & OLB's are forced into meaningful coverage.  I've been saying it all week that the best way to attack this Giants d is spread it out pass first putting them on their heels then crank it off left tackle continuously until they have to bring in safeties.  Pierce is weakest when on his heels and w/ Boley out Blackburn is left to man up on Shocky... serious mismatch.  Saints defense is very under rated. Giants will see the blitz from everywhere so we'll see a lot of max protect with a ton of running w/ more play action than normal.  The Giants need to rush for 170-200 yds and win possession battle to have a chance here.  The Giants are 18-3 last 21 on the road so there is great reason to back the Giants here and it's not surprising. They have not given anyone a reason to doubt I'm just giving it to you from a matchup standpoint and it doesnt set up well on paper vs a quick strike spread em out type team like the Saints coupled w/ their williams lead red hot defense I'm finding it hard to see a Giants win sunday unless of course the are able to run it big and dominate t.o.p.  As far as who these teams played let's face it they both have faced soft opponents Giants more so but Saints played the Jets w/ a QB in his 5th game and a backup qb in philly so the book is still out on this defense and how good it is. I hope to very wrong w/ my analysis but I am thinking the saints d is as good as it's looked but we shall see. I watch this one as a fan w/ zero betting interest cuz i'm seeing it from the other side and I never play against my G-Men.  Mike and the Mad Dog re-united for a day on the Fan right now....absolutely tremendous!!

I agree with Splooge that New Orleans can create issues for the the Giants if they spread out the LBs and create mismatches in the passing game -- Reggie Bush could have a big day.  But....

 

The Giants have been an absolute machine on the road over the past couple of years -- especially when getting points.  And for that reason alone it's hard to pick against them.  But there are several other things to remember about this game:

 

The Saints have never won a game following a bye week under Sean Peyton.  That's all about preparation.  This year might be different but you can't say coming off the bye gives them an advantage.

 

The Saints D is facing their fist legit QB.  Yes they've looked good.  But they've faced 2 rookie QBs (Sanchez, Stafford) and another making his first start Kolb.  The other game was against Buffalo who is 26th in points scored.  

 

NYG are 5-1 in a dome since 2006.  And the only lost was to the Vikes at the end of last season with nothing to play for.  Eli is a much better QB in a dome or warm weather.

 

Drew Brees.  True that he puts up big numbers --but can anyone name a big game he's won since they beat the Eagles in the playoffs 3 years ago?  I can't.

 

Greg Williams.  For all who say he's going to stop the NYG....just remember the Giants were 4-2 against him as coordinator of the Redskins and averaged 24ppg.
