Lion's coach Dan Campbell eschewing "makeable" field goals

Ok guaranteed 1 play with a great chance at getting 2 more.  Massive mistakes?  So you put it all on him I guess.  You wouldn't by chance be the one to stay on 16 every now and then with the dealer showing a 10?

Analytics favor both 4th downs going for it.  not by much but still favor

Moody already missed a 48 yarder.  That would give me pause

Lions were 15/18!! in those situations

Lions offense had their way with San Fran defense in 1st half.

Packers pushed around that defense week before.

That Offense had no reason not to believe that they could convert.

Offense leads this team. Why not keep it in their hands and let them decide teams fate instead of a kicker they just picked up in December whose career percentage of 45+ was not that good.

Maybe a little foot on the throat with the first one which I like.

I didn't at first but now think they were the right calls.

 I think Dan was thinking he wasn't going to get the ball back if they kicked it and tied it up.  It didn't seem like the defense could stop them in 2nd half.  I think their only chance to win at that point was to use up the clock and get a td to go up 4 and put the pressure on Purdy to drive the field for a TD.

 Yes.  Massive mistakes. 

I only stand on 16’s against a 10 with a true count of +4 or higher, and even then I would surrender if it’s offered.  

Dan Campbell made terrible calls to go for a 1st down in the 3rd quarter up 24-10, and then again in the 4th quarter down 27-24.  There is not one sound reason (not one) to make either of those calls.

It’s ok though, didn’t bother me financially in the least; worked out well for me as a matter of fact.

Dan is a great leader and his team would run through the wall for him; that said, he needs to clean up his situational game management substantially in order to optimize his teams potential over a given season.

 Take a closer look at the four 2nd half possessions by SF prior to the Lions failed 4th and 3 halfway through the 4th quarter. 1st possession, FG, 2nd possession TD thanks primarily to a deflected pass off the Lions defender into the hands of Aiyuk for 51 yards. That pass should have been intercepted, just lucky for SF. Possession 3, TD for SF but after the Lions fumble on their 24 yard line. Possession 4, another FG. 

So it's not like SF was marching up and down the field scoring TDs, they weren't, Lions defense did bend but not break and the only long drive for a TD was because of the semi miraculous 51 yard catch by Aiyuk. Not buying Campbell didn't think his defense was up to the task of stopping SF.

Campbell running the ball from the 2 yard line with 1:05 remaining was a dumb call also.  Terrible. You don’t call a play that potentially results in having to burn a timeout.  Your 3 Timeouts were lifelines at that point since you refused to take FG attempts earlier in the game.  Everything matters.  Hopefully Dan will understand that one day, but I wouldn’t bet on it.  Pun intended.

 I hear you but they were not stopped in 2nd half.  That doesn't give confidence.  49ers last drive after turnover on downs was pretty easy.  To me that proves Lions defense was not up to task.  We needed to go up 4 and hope Purdy made a mistake.
