I don't have an issue with what Kaep's doing but I don't really see what he believes this is going to do. This seems to be split down political lines to me. Right wing conservatives have an issue with it and left wing liberals love it. Which isn't surprising honestly. So what is this really solving? The 50% of the country that supports what he's doing, already feel that black people are oppressed and support the BLM movement. It's not like he's gaining support from the other half. The mind game that will have you believe that by not blindly and unconditionally supporting something that I believe is contrary to my value system means I don't support service members is a joke. 20 veterans are killing themselves a day and the country you are fawning over doesn't give a garbage about them, because they've already served their function which has everything to do with the acquisition of power, control, and money, and nothing to do with the maintenance of freedoms that are our birth-right. I have the utmost respect for people willing to give their lives for a cause, I just think as a whole we need to reexamine that cause.

That said, it is simply common courtesy to stand for a national anthem of ANY COUNTRY. He was raised by WHITE parents but they must have not taught him manners. When my kids and I hear the National Anthem, we remove are caps, shut the fu ck up and stand at respect as members of this country but also as a show of respect to the country. I would do the same if I was in Mexico, Canada or Saudi Arabia, it is common courtesy.

Whether or not you agree with his position, it shouldn't be such a stretch to respect somebody for standing up for their beliefs while knowingly risking the loss of money and popularity by doing so.

That is what is so funny, he is actually not standing he is kneeling (and was sitting)
the problem is he is blatantly disrespecting the country he belongs to and that feeds him. Yes, it is his right and I am cool with that. That he disrespects my flag though does pisss me off. Could he not just talk to the press, start a website, buy a full page ad in the newspaper etc etc etc to make his point. I actually think the man does have a valid point and I get it. That said, it is simply common courtesy to stand for a national anthem of ANY COUNTRY. He was raised by WHITE parents but they must have not taught him manners. When my kids and I hear the National Anthem, we remove are caps, shut the fu ck up and stand at respect as members of this country but also as a show of respect to the country. I would do the same if I was in Mexico, Canada or Saudi Arabia, it is common courtesy.

A letter to Colin Kapernick- Colin, Thank you for showing us that we have a problem in this country. I totally respect your decision and your right to do this. I am actually kind of impressed with the volume of the story and the ability you have had with such a simple gesture to start such a firestorm. I only ask now that you do me and the country that I am from a favor today, please stand for our National Anthem. You do not have to stand for it because you like it or agree with it. I ask that you stand for it out of common courtesy for the people who do feel strongly about it. You see, this is only polite. As I was at the Thursday Night Football game the other day with my son, I was sobbing during the National Anthem. I was thinking about my Dad and how he would stand for the Anthem and take his hat off his head and place it over his heart. He was a Veteran, fought in the big WWII but not that much more of a patriot than the next guy on Main Street USA. He did believe though that there is a common courtesy to respect the Anthem for our country and for any country for that matter. He taught me this respect and when the Anthem played we would stand and respect it. Period. I am sure we would do this for the USA, Mexico or any other country, again, it is a common courtesy. I instilled this core value in my son at the game and had him remove his hat and stand at attention, just like my Father had done for me and I hope my son does for his son some day. When I go to a hockey game and they play O Canada for a visiting team, I show it the same respect I do for the Star Spangled Banner. So Colin, your point is made. I hear you. The discussion is open and you have way more press than any person could even imagine. If your point was to start the discussion and open the dialogue, consider it a job well done and stand up for the Anthem, please. If you continue to kneel, I will have to think you are blatantly disrespecting my country and my flag and I will feel slighted by your actions. Apparently Kapernick is still a devout Christian who has many biblical verses tattooed on him, So much for the piece of s-hit OP and his wack job theories of him converting to Islam.
