Jim Caldwell, like Dungy, does not give one HOOT about pre-season games. He has already stated that Manning will be very limited and won't go beyond 2 series. After that, its Curtis Painter time. And he will be playing with a beat-up offensive line (Diem out), no WR unit at all after Wayne leaves (Gonzo is gone). On the other side of the ball, the Colts are missing key starters everywhere (Sanders, Bethea, etc).
People seem to forget that Sage Chokenfelds still put up great numbers against the Colts defense before his epic meltdown. He didn't come to the Vikings to be the back-up. He wants to win the starting QB competition against Jackson.
Take the Vikings. It will be an easy clean-up.
