i don't have time to write my full grievance right now, but they need to fire this guy. When Shanahan left we were average, now we're just plain bad. Nice call firing Nolan last year McDaniels. We're really seeing the results. Oh, and another great call was changing our running game around so that we have the worst running game in franchise history!!!!
Why didn't I take the season under for a sure thing?
I don't even like how this guy interacts with the community! He's smug and immature w/ a bloated ego that doesn't match his success. He's your classic example of what's wrong with coaches these days, according to Tom Flores! Just a giant dick, pissing all over the team to mark his territory, with losing results.
Fire the guy in midseason Pat Bowlen. Make a statement that you won't accept such losses from a unestablished coach.

and I'm not just pissed because I lost some bank! I should have seen this coming really. By gametime, The Raiders were 8 pts dogs!! For a division game where they've won in Denver the last three years - and they're an 8 pt dog? Usually Denver/Raiders games are close, field goal type games.
Look, even though Shanahan lost to The Raiders at home his last year, he had an overwhelmingly good record against this team. Denver fans HATE THE RAIDERS and so did Shanahan. I don't have his record against them in front of me, but it was pretty solid.
McDaniels comes on the radio after the game and says The Raiders are a "good football team!?" What's the guy sniffin'? I admit that they're a better team under their upteenth new coach, but "a good team?" GIVE ME A FRIKIN' BREAK MCDANIELS!
Apparently, they are a better team than The Broncos - they proved it. But don't pass them off as a good football team. Indy and The Jets were "good football teams," and games you were expected to lose (and fulfilled that expectation honorably). But McDaneils, you were favored 8 pts against this "good football team!!!" Outside of Detroit, no one has lost more games than The Raiders over the past 6 or 7 years! Hell, they didn't even score in the 4th quarter and you still lost by 45pts!
And why the hell did McDaniels keep Orton in the game w/ 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter! Is the guy an idiot

I tell you what I will trade you Coach Clueless for McDaniels any day. Careful what you wish for you might just get it. I actually like the building blocks you have in place but unfortunately it is going to take a couple more years with drafts and good free agent signings before you see the rewards of the rebuilding. Also even of bigger consequence is the fact that Bailey will never see the fruits of this labors. Always have been a Champ fan and wish he could make it once to the big game.
The reason your running game is the worst in the league is because Moreno has been out. He is starting to look pretty damn close to 100% this week and that will help tremendously. Clearly Buckhalter and/or Mauroney are not the backup answers. Plus that o-line is talented as hell and they need to play with a mean streak. Clandy is incredibly talented but he is almost as soft as the pillsbury dough boy.
Finally, of course McDaniels is smug... have you ever seen a NFL coach that isn't? Look at Cable yesterday as he ran up the score. He was looking pretty pleased with himself.
BOL but I like the direction that DEN is going but is just going to take a little longer that you like to get there.

Although I agree with you 100%, maybe there is a better way to look at it. Since they have gone 4-13 in their past 17 games what is their ATS record. A terrible coach is a great fade and a great way to make money. Let's face it, the reason most (not all) of us are here are to try and win some money and Denver, right now, is a cash cow by fading them. bol

His downfall was actually last year's tremendous start, created way too high expectations. As a Raider fan, I find a game like this truly out of the sky! 1st- When's the last time ANY NFL team ran the ball 52 times? 2nd- Always a hated rivalry, but usually very competitive until the Raiders remembered they were the Raiders. 3rd- Orton really is a first rate NFL QB and doesn't deserve what they're going through. 4th- For all the times other teams have "run it up" on him, the Cable Guy deserves to enjoy this. BOL the rest of the way

So he's to blame for the pick 6 and fumble on the first 2 plays of the game? Followed by 2 more fumbles on offense? Not too many coaches would be able to stick to a game plan down 21-0 7 minutes in.
I agree with you saying the running game is a problem, but the Cutler and Marshall trades have only BENEFITED this team.
I'm just glad you made a few valid points, I'm a season ticket holder and was at the game yesterday and a ton of fans were chanting for Tebow midway through the 3rd quarter. These are the type of morons that piss me off. Orton is a top 5 QB in the league but defenses have finally caught up that Denver can't run.
Firing him mid-season won't do anything, remember the Chiefs are winning the division at 4-2, plenty of football left.

Alright, here's the deal. McDaniels was never brought in to "rebuild." He was brought to Denver to win more games than Shanahan had been in his later tenure. That includes beating The Raiders, a team Shanahan uncharacteristically lost to, at home, during his last year.
As far as the turnovers go, those things happen and I agree that McDaniels isn't responsible for those, unless it's a chronic problem, which it's not. But, he is responsible for the fact that Denver, at one point later in the game, had 13 possessions and went 3 and out on 10 of those possessions. McDaniels is responsible for his distance in the community - his maturity is a serioius issue here. McDaniels is responsible for giving away a first round pick on a draftee last year who's no longer with the team. McDaniels is responsible for benching Marshall last year and likely missing the playoffs in exchange.
Folks, he's got some positives, like getting his team to play more hard-nosed football. But the only reason we're rebuilding at this point is because of the mess he's made of the franchise in a short 18 months. He was not brought here to miss the playoffs for two consecutive years.
One last remark. I've always felt their winning streak last year was a direct result of the way they won game one - which was the play of the year. The momentum off that early season win in Cincy carried them for 6 weeks, not the coaching. McDaniels will and should be fired, as were the results of the disatrous Wade Phillips. Bring in Bill Cowher next year! I don't recall him losing a game that badly in his "rebuiling" years. Heck, I don't recall any team losing that badly in my entire lifetime!
No excuses for last week - FIRE MCD!

The Chiefs will win the division. I like what their coach is doing. Yea, fans like that bother me too. I actually think putting in Tebow would have been a mistake. Just didn't seem like the right thing to do, sending in him to cleanup a blowout. Besides, Quinn's the backup and, as such, should probably get the live-game practice minutes.

OK. I didn't watch the game, but the final score isn't too pretty. I see S.F. scored 21 pts in the 4 quarter to come back and win. I see we still have no running game.
Anyone watch the game? How bad did we look/play?
How much time do you give McDaniels folks?

About a year ago, Tom Flores was interviewed on a satellite radio stations - probably hardcoresportsradio out of Canada. He was asked about the differences, if any existed, between coaching in his day and today - specifically if the demands were greater to win. He didn't think the game had changed that much in terms of expectations to win. He did say that he thought there was less patience now; and with more money at stake, there was a tendency to not give coaches a lot of time, the time needed, to give the owners the winner they so badly want. He also said that he felt too many coaches came into the job wanting to surround themselves with "their" guys. He spoke negatively about many coaches today, who, under the pressure perhaps to win sooner rather than later, didn't work with the players and the staff that were in place already, preferring to fire everyone and fill the positions w/ their own cronies. He didn't refer to McDaniels directly, but McD has pretty much done everything that Flores spoke of disapprovingly. It was a good interview. I've always liked Flores. Kinda think the guy could still coach, but he was asked and replied he has no desire to return to the game.
