Is this really hard to fathom?
JJ Mcarthy was absolutely horrendous at the qb position last year. You could put anyone else with a pulse in at qb, and there would be "notable improvements" as DK said.
Kyler Murray isn't an elite qb, but the kid has talent. Some fun facts about him.
He has more rushing TD's than Lamar Jackson.
He has the 5th highest completion percentage in nfl history(that is a fact). He led the nfl in that department last year at 70.6%. For comparison, JJ Mcarthy was 37th of 40 qb's(minimum 200 passes) at 64.5%.
He played only 5 games last year.
He's played in the nfc west his entire 7 year career, on the worst team in that division in recent years. The Rams have been to 2 super bowls, and won one since 2019. The Seahawks won the SB last year. The 49ers have been to 2 SB's since 2019.
Kyler Murray now gets KOC in his ear, and gets the luxury of throwing to Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Jauan Jennings and Tyler Hockenson.
I think that there will be notable improvements. And that's not a bold statement at all.

Yooo Sac, always good to see you around here. That Brian Flores defense has given Jordan Love trouble. If Vikings offense can be above half decent with Murray they'll win more games for sure.
Ben Johnson has made some bold comments about wanting the Bears to be an offensive juggernaut and break the 2013 Broncos record. What's your take on the Bears this season

I agree i think Murray will be able to get those receivers the ball which seemed like a huge task for McCarthy. Maye led the league with 72% regular season competitions not Murray. But he is 5th all time which is crazy. What else is crazy is Drew Brees is the only qb to win a Superbowl in the top 10 competition percentage. And Tua is #2 ![]()

@papsmear
You are correct, Drake Maye was #1 in comp %.
Also if you look at every or any qb category there is, Drake Maye is mostly #1 in most of them. That dude is incredible, and still under rated by most people.

@Digitalkarma
Anything any coach says is all fluff to me. I have to see it to believe it. It's a great attitude for Ben Johnson to have, and hopefully his players are behind him.
But overall I'm way down on the Bears this year for various reasons.

Adding
Cardinals +9.5(-108)
Cardinals ml +400 *small*
Line going down as expected. I think Love being RB2 is a good move. Gotta give the young guy some extra motivation. Allgeier will butter up that defense and they'll use Love in spurts.

Makes me wonder if we'll be seeing the same trend like for the past couple years, faves dominating early in the season as dogs pick it up later on and faves dominating the AM slot while dogs take over the PM slot... Something to weigh in cuz that absolutely kicked my ass taking a lot of dogs in the morning games for the first 5 or 6 weeks of the season.....
