It's pretty crazy to see so many people defending the Panthers on this one... there is no reason whatsoever to be going for 2 in that situation.
Apparently concepts like class, sportsmanship and humility are incomprehensible to the "ME" generation...

Do you even know math? With a 2 pt conversion it would take Panthers 3 touchdowns 3 2-pt conversions + a field goal to tie the game, if Panthers got 3 touchdowns 3 pt conversions and a field goal then Panthers would LOSE the game. So going for 2 is the 100% right call unless ure a brainless moronic covers capper you would be able to tell. You should be able to tell if you had just a little clue about maths.  I swear i wish some people never handicapped when they dont even know simple things like this.

boy was that answer out of another world...do you even know what the NFL stands for? I can assure you, there isn't another team in the league that would have wasted there time, or sacrificed their integrity, especially after their own HC said to go for the extra point, or didn't you see, or get it?

the only brainless, moronic, capper is you, if it was the right call then why on earth did Rivera not make it? (Cam Newton made the call) I would really like someone to come forward in your behalf and explain in 'real terms what you have no idea about...math, get a fuckin' brain, and educate yourself as to how the NFL works

the only brainless, moronic, capper is you, if it was the right call then why on earth did Rivera not make it? (Cam Newton made the call) I would really like someone to come forward in your behalf and explain in 'real terms what you have no idea about...math, get a fuckin' brain, and educate yourself as to how the NFL works

Because Cam Newton made the right call. Its as simple as that. If anyone made the call NOT to go for the 2 pts they made the WRONG call. Cam made the 2 point call, they went for it, and it was the right call 100% if you have a brain. And they succeeded as well thats just the icing on the cake.

If people bring sportsmanship into this they are BEYOND stupid. How about Panthers didnt score a touchdown at all to make the game fair.  Or bench Newton after the first quarter because its rude and unsportsmanlike to win

I hope Panthers gets suspended from the Super Bowl. The fact that they make the 100% right calls is beyond stupid. And while ure at it please ban LeBron James and Stephen Curry from the NBA, they are too good, we need more parity in the NBA so please ban them. Its vomitting that they are allowed to play.

Seeing Panthers making the right calls can be considered Classless, Disgusting and Absurd and i hope they get suspended from the Super Bowl and Broncos gets handed an automatic 10-0 win (Not by a larger margin because that would be unfair and unsportsmanlike)

Asomugha,  your commentary is beyond believe, your reality margin is thin, you actually have no idea what you're even saying, if what you're after is attention, there are more intelligent ways of seeking it...you're basically lost...enjoy the Super Bowl...

    Dr Phil?

It is very simple as to why they went for 2...being up 26 is pointless...but 27 make it safer in forcing 3 tds and 3 2pnt conversion and a fg to tie, or 4tds to win..its pretty common sense actually.

Did they need to go for 2? Of course not, the game was over...but in the strategy of winning a football game it was the smart play.

As for all this talk by everybody with Carolina running up the score and being class-less...thats exactly what is wrong with America...people are such babies and wimps.

The idea is to win the game and score...if you dont like it stop them.  Do you know how many times during the year Zona was throwing bombs in the 4th qtr up 21-28 points??  All the time

You dont practice during the week and all year to run, run run punt and hold on to leads...

SO pathetic people are such wussies today that they dont like running up the score...if I was a player or coach I would run it ery time...these are grown men...if their feelings are hurt they should not play the sport

It's even more simple than that PACK>..

Woody Hayes was asked after beating Michigan by 50 some points.

"Woody, why did you go for two when you had Michigan soundly beat?"

"Cause I couldn't go for three!"

in last weeks playoff game everyone was pissed that the panthers took the foot off the gas and was content with running the clock. What happened, the game became a game when it shouldn't have.

This week the vowed to keep their foot on the gas if they ended up in the same situation. So they did that and the game was never in doubt.

There is two way to look at that 2 pt conversion.

1-The cards had just scored in the game and went for 2 pt conversion that made the score 34-15. So everyone knows being down 19 you got to get 2 td with 2 2pt conversion and a field goal to tie. So Cam kept the 2pt conversion thing going. Ah who the hell am I kidding the game was out a reach already and that was them pouring it on..

I find it interesting that all of the people (Panda included) complaining about the 2 point conversion (I think it was OK, but I'm a Panther fan) are so willing to dismiss the end of the game.

The PANTHERS take a knee on 3rd down and 1 yard to go and then take a knee on 4th and 2 and give the ball back to Arizona on downs as opposed to scoring another TD or kicking a FG on 4th down to go over 50 points.

The taking of the knee on 3rd and 4th down was a sign of respect to Arizona and a true showing of sportsmanship.

So what does Arizona do? They pad their pathetic worthless stats with 4 completions and 45 yards more of offence as opposed to taking a knee and ending their embarrassment. That was truly classless on the part of Arizona in my opinion.

Since we are talking about sportsmanship, why is no one discussing this. Arizona should have taken a knee.

Because people are exactly that, braindead. They dont realize that 27 is a KEY NUMBER in the NFL whereas 26 is completely meaningless, so anyone with a brain would go for 2 here, only moronic imbeciles with no understanding of football would kick the extra point here instead of going for 2 points.

This thread shows exactly why none of yall will ever take a big decision in a big football game, because none of you have the brain capacity to do so. How can you be dumb enough to question this, its seriously beyond me. "Why did Panthers take the right decision!?! why didnt they take the wrong decision instead?!" Thats basically what youre saying.

Also Cardinals had just succeeded a 2 point conversion prior to this, so by going for a 2 pt conversion here Panthers could neutralize Cardinals 2pt conversion completely, which they did. Absolutely brilliant and correct decision. Only a few covertards wont get it because they dont know simple math or basic mechanics in football.

Are you crazy?  You think it is bad sportsmanship to play hard until the end of a game?  That is called character.   .

I don't think going for two was bad sportsmanship either.

But if the Panthers had thrown the ball into the end zone on the last possession, that would have been bad sportsmanship.

No one has mentioned that going for two gives Denver something to think about and prepare for, consuming prep time. This is a plus for Carolina. Every edge helps. Plus as we saw in Carolina at NYG and Seattle at Carolina last week, crazy things do happen ... I have more than once seen teams score two TDs in the final 90 seconds of a game. IMO going for two was the correct decision.
