No one has mentioned this. But, anyone that was on Pit vs. Cle will know exactly what I am talking about. With Pouncey out, it is my understanding that they had to move their guard to C. This is going to create huge problems. From my understanding, Pit are going to have two guys on their OL that they will need to "help". The first is the back-up C which they will likely use the RG. The 2nd (and really the hole that was exposed in the Cle game) is their LG. I don't know his name. But, he has something like 4 holding penalties. And, after replies, they were rightfully called as they would have resulted in sacks. Now, if you are Pit, what do you do. Obviously, you try to run. But, if you can't score on 4 tries from the 2 against the Browns, you can't be too optimistic about your ability to run against a better run defense. You know you have to throw but your QB is immobile. So, any pass rush whatsoever causes big problems. This will limit double move patterns and will have a negative effect on the screen game. You are going to have to keep an extra blocker in with the exception of quick passes. This will make it more difficult to expose the 49er secondary. Big Ben is incredible. But, tonight, it is going to be too big of a challenge for even him. The question is whether SF can score. With the Pit defense having back-ups at a few key position, I think they can.
