Why is the Sixers line so low?

Is someone out for the game. I took Sixers PickEm last night but there no way they lose this game right. Hornets are an average ass team and got blown out by the heat. Although I dont think theyll get blown out again. They dont have anyone to handle Embiid. Hornets big men suck ass. The road team had been 4-0 ATS as well. This seems like a trap line to get people to bet Hornets.

Fuck my stupid ass didnt check to see Joel wasnt playing. God dammit

Although I dont care if Joel isnt playing. Sixers should still take care of this Hornets team. They have 3 other All stars for fucks sake. Boban is back now too. This Sixers team is rollllling right now getting ready and in sync for the playoffs.  

I asked myself same thing when I saw line this morning, even with Embid out a small line like this feels like a trap. Majority of money and wagers on Sixers but still they are only favored by 1.5 against a struggling Hornets team that has lost 8 out of 11 if I'm not mistaken. Will have to dig into my own power ratings later but to the naked eye line seems too good to be true..

Why is the line low for 76ers?

Let's see....

- They just beat Bucks in Milwaukee and clinched a playoff spot - Letdown spot in effect.

- They are a solid #3 and have no shot at #2 or #1. (Also, they won season series against #4 Pacers should they finish tie). So basically, this is where they will most likely end.

- 2, 1, and 3 points = Those are the margin of victories 76ers have against Hornets this season with Embiid in ALL THREE GAMES. Two of those games went to OT.

- Hornets are desperate for a win and trying to stay in playoff hunt.

- Sixers are 6-13 SU/ATS on the road after a win this season. Hornets are 13-6 SU at home coming off a loss.

You got sucked in to a trap game.

Yes emblid in all 3 of those games but Tobias not, cant really believe hornets can beat philly tonight , I think both team motivated, hornets fighting for 8th spot n philly fighting for 3rd

6ers look ahead to boston tmrw night. hornets cant afford to lose games, where 6ers have a bit of breathing room with indianas tough schedule and especially if they beat boston tmrw. 6ers kinda sux without embiid, major part of their rotation, many rebounds and points and blocks.... what a presence!!! stay away game for me!! 

There's no such thing as a trap game and if something looks to good to be true, it might not be true. There are many actual reasons for this line, most of which have been outlined in this thread. The number is a legit number. With that said, it doesn't mean that Philly isn't capable of covering without Embiid. It just means if the made the number too big, w/o Joel, too many would pound Charlotte. If too small, if Charlotte laying, then too many would pound Philly. All oddmakers are doing is trying to elicit as much action on one side of a game as the other. It's a lot less complicated than people make it in their minds. The things they consider when creating a number can be somewhat complicated. It's as much about psychology and calculating public perception as it is injuries, X' and O's, ect. The end result though is pretty simple. There's no conspiracy to fleece the public with trap lines, ect. They literally just want equal action. They'd rather put themselves in a position to potentially win a little against not losing anything than potentially winning a bunch against losing a bunch.

We'll see! I didnt go too big on this game however, my play of the day is Houston -7. Every big capper has Charlotte tonight it seems as Max bet LOL. Oh man if the Sixers win it will be a bloodbath.
