Pop views his job as a coach differently than others ... it's straight forward and simple ... he's the coach and that's it. So he doesn't find it necessary and/or he doesn't think doing interviews is his job. He leaves that to the players. So when he blows the interviews off, it's because he doesn't think its his job to do these interviews in the first place. So hence he's just a coach, coach the team to his best and f*ck the interviews vs other coaches think it's part of their duty to cater to the media. You understand?

Makes sense to me but Pop is not his own boss. If the NBA wants him doing interviews, that's what he will be doing.

If you work in the NBA, taking in questions and not being a jerk is his job and is the bare MINIMUM!!!
He should know that.

The only thing any coach owes to his players/fans/management is to put his team in the best position to win. Period. It's all about winning, plus good coaches aren't going to gossip to the media because it brings unecessary pressure/negative attention to his players and puts them in a worse position to win. Also telling the reporters a lot can give away his strategy. A one word answer would be the bare minimum in interviews. The reporters try and make mountains out of ant hills on a daily basis I would not cater to them either.

Popovich is the Bill Belichick of the nba. He's a condescending a__hole but he's also the best at what he does. That's the way things work. If you're average at what you do then you have to be nice or you get fired. If you're great at what you do then people put up with your attitude and you just tell them "I win so shut up." That's why being good at your profession is such a luxury because it sucks being nice all the time.

Some of the questions are just outright stupid... "Is this a must win game for you guys? " was the worst one that I heard. For the most part some reporters are just not good enough. But I also believe sometimes their questions are deliberately dumb , cause their trying to get that reaction from pop.
