From 1970-1980

You had 8 different champions with the celtics and lakers the only one to win it twice.

1980-2010

You have had 8 different champions but if you throw out the heat and 76ers who only one it once  that leaves just 6 teams. The lakers,celtics,bulls,pistons,spurs and rockets.

So before next season if you want to make a futures bet just bet one of those 6 and you cannot go wrong. What a joke the nba is

you could make the argument for baseball as well with the new york yankees and big market ball clubs.

well from 1980 to 2010 there were guys like TIm duncan, Michael Jordan, and Shaquille O'neal that just dominated. Its no ones fault they were just that good and everyone else sucked.

whats wrong with dynasties?  The thing with Basketball is that its 5 on 5, and your top player can play from 33-38 mins a game so if u get 2 of the best players in the league you can win multiple titles

After reading tim donaghy book there  are no such things as dynasties in the nba the fix is in and just certain teams are going to get the best players. Lakers got shaq and won 3 titles and then fell off and then the nba made sure they got paul gasol because the nba needs the lakers to do well.

If you look at the teams that keep winning, they usually have one or more star players.  Star players can impact a basketball game much more than in other sports..

there were two teams who had alot better deals on the table for paul gasol but the nba wanted gasol to go to the lakers. and there atleast 12-14 teams who the nba could care less if they won or not.

i do think the lakers win tonight by the way.

Truth is it's a lot easier for one player to dominate a league in the NBA than in any other sport.

You only have 10 on the court.

Please elaborate your statement, what other deals? I think it did have alot to with West's and Kupchak's realtionship that the deal went the Laker's way, but as far as i remember no other teams were offering anything much better or to blow the LA offer away. Therefore with the 2 GM's history together the deal went the Laker's way. It's not some big dumb conspiracy get a grip. It was a matter of teams offering very similar packages and the team with a better relationship got the deal done.

Look at ti this way. If you run a hotdog stand and have been buying your supplies from Dave since you started the business 10 yrs ago, are you going to stop buying from him cause Tim comes into the picture and offers you your supplies for .10 less. Most likely no, NBS is a business and relationships with other organizations have alot to do in how deals get done. You can make the same argument in the Celtics Twolves deal. Ainge and McHale two old friends and teamates helping each other out.
