I wonder what Johnson would say if you asked him "So by the same token do you believe that white people have developed a superior intelligence gene then?"

According Johnson, "It is currently being researched to see how much of a factor being descended from slaves contributes to athletic ability."

in other words, slave owners took blacks that were the biggest and strongest for labor purposes and that is the genetic pool that exists today...

but what one of the poster above said about about it being a big part of the African american culture....seems like the best answer here.

one might argue that fact that all life is believed to have originated from africa and perhaps differences in climate changes and various different environmental influences that these individuals were subjected to could have had a effect on intelligence.

As a 30 yr White A.sshole that I am, I recommend u tell him the truth to save u time in the long run. Just say that blacks are naturally just a tad bit bigger faster therefore being a tad more athletic..Truth

And the extra muscle in there calf helps too

So then that begs an important question....

If blacks have a superior athletic gene AND
if whites and blacks have identical intelligence genes

then whites likely don't have any superior genes then do they according to him?

Personally I believe some racial groups have genetically superior intelligence.  Some groups are physically superior to others, why couldn't other groups be intellectually superior.  Look at the disproportionate number of person at Harvard (really, it's startling how many person are there, especially when you consider person weren't prohibited at Harvard 60+ years ago).

However, intellectual superiority is linked with value in our society.  Smarter people are perceived as having greater merit.  Obviously, they shouldn't.  You're not a better person because you're smarter.  But society views you that way.  Generally speaking, greater intelligence means greater economic ability.  And society values people of economic means. 

So while I think it's true that some races are genetically superior intellectually, I think society needs to maintain the pretense that it's not.  Otherwise, people will perceive certain races as having lesser value (even more than they do now).

It's a combination of many things so don't try to look for a specific reason.

And there is a long line of benefactors (tournaments, scholarships, summer camps) that harness basketball talents all the way from prep school to the NCAA itself.

Of course there are also known physiological differences in the races; particularly the hindquarters and knees. That is why some dude from Congo or Senegal or Lesotho or somewhere from Africa usually win the races.
