Hello folks, wishing everyone the best of luck throughout the remainder of this NBA season. Hard to believe that most teams have already played 20+ games making up nearly 1/3rd of the season.
I thought I'd post up a little thread with some teams that have some notable "tough" stretches within the next month.
Atlanta Hawks
They start February off with a 4 games at home after returning from a 5 game road trip where they are currently 3-1 with the game in Toronto pending. They have a big home game versus the Heat, who they have played two close games with already. This game is on the 12th of Febuary; after this game they head out on the road for another 5 game road trip. They will play the Lakers, Suns, Blazers, Bulls and Knicks. All five are tough home teams, but Atlanta has proven throughout January that they can win on the road, even though a majority of these wins came against weaker opponents. This road trip is a very important part of Atlanta's month.
Boston Celtics
The Celtics start the month off with a 5 games at home which wraps up against the Lakers. They should win at least 3 of these 5 games. About midway through February, the Celtics leave for a 12 day, 5 game road trip that begins with a TNT Thursday match up in Chicago. They play their 4th game in 6 nights against Dallas and then two days later have a match against the Thunder. Both of these are on the road. February doesn't look to be that tough for Boston and I would guess that they will finish this month with a positive record.
Charlotte Bobcats
The Bobcats have a strange schedule for the month of February. They play 3 on the road, 3 at home, 3 on the road, then one home game, a break between the 23rd and 28th, then they wrap up the month on the 29th. No real notable matchups; they only have 1 B2B throughout the month. Likely won't do too well this month with them playing 7 road games compared to 4 home games (and three are in a 5 day stretch).
Chicago Bulls
Road trip? Whoever made the schedule gave the Bulls the shaft in February. They played their last 2 games of January on the road (Miami/Washington), and they will continue this road trip for the next 7 games over a period of 12 days. This is a total of 9 road games in 15 days. So far they are 2-0 ATS on this road trip. After this road trip is complete, the Bulls are blessed with 6 games at home before heading out to San Antonio to wrap up the month on the 29th (B2B). Should be an interesting first 12 days of February for the Bulls where they will complete their 9 game road trip.
Cleveland Cavaliers
What baffles me about this schedule is that the Cavaliers play 13 games in February but only 3 of them are on the road. Problem is, they play some pretty solid talent throughout the month: Heat (2x), Clippers, 76ers, Pacers, Celtics and the Knicks (in MSG) on the 29th. Not sure how the Cavs will bode this month, but I would look for them to compete throughout the month.
Dallas Mavericks
The Mav's have a nice well rounded schedule this month. A good number of home and away games. No real scheduling abnormalities this month but they do have a tough 3 game stretch from February 11th to the 15th where they play Portland, LAC and Denver; all of these games are played at home.
Denver Nuggets
Starting the month the Nuggets play in LA vs. the Clippers. Then they return home to play the Lakers before hopping on a plane to play in Portland the following night (4th game in 5 nights). After this swing they return home for 3 games at home. They don't have very many notable games this month. A matchup with the Thunder on the 19th, followed by a game at home vs. the T-wolves (B2B). Then another game against the Clippers, once again, in LA. Make sure to tune in to their game on the 2nd because twenty days later they will be playing one another again.
Detroit Pistons
Nothing too crazy going on with this team. 3 games vs. New Jersey. 4 Back-to-Back games. 5 road games and 9 home games.
I hope for the Pistons sake they can get some wins this month.
Golden State Warriors
Nothin too wild going on here either...2 matchups vs. OKC..6 home games and 7 away games. They finish the month on a 3 game road trip against Phoenix, Indiana and then in Atlanta.
Houston Rockets
Another team with a lopsided month...They leave on the 4th to play 6 road games before returning home on the 15th to face OKC. That is the first of 6 home games. Should be interesting to see how these long road trips go for these teams, as well as the consequent 6 game home stand. Houston will have a tough month.
Indiana Pacers
Pretty basic schedule for the Pacers. No real long road trips and no over extended home stands. One notable game will be on February 14th vs. Miami. Anyone remember last year when Miami opened the game up on a 20-0 run in response to the previous game where Indiana had beaten them?
Los Angeles Clippers
9 road games, 5 home games. This spells trouble for the Clippers who thrive at home. They play Denver twice, both games in LA. I'm worried about the Clippers this month without their home crowd to provide that extra punch of energy. Nothing really too crazy in their schedule; 3 B2Bs.
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers start off Feburary with a 6 game road trip. The road has been bad to the Lakers thus far and there is a strong possibility that they start off the month 2-4.With games against Denver, Utah, Philadelphia, Boston, New York and Toronto. I can see them returning home AT BEST 3-3. The Lakers have 4 home games this month and have a TOUGH B2B on the 22nd/23rd. They play the first game in Dallas before travelling to OKC for TNT Thursday. Lakers will have an interesting month, I could see them only winning abour 6-7 games.
Will post up teams M-Z later, now it's time to eat.
