Wemby and the Spurs became the golden boys because they were going against the villain in OKC.
A lot was made all year about OKC and the refs. If you watched closely, the Spurs played just as physical defense and sold calls as well. They were just downplayed because they played OKC. Despite all that, OKC took them to 7 games without their #2 and #3 scorers.
Knicks are healthy, have vets, and will rough the Spurs up.
Kat can draw Wemby out the paint and won’t shoot 2 times likes Chet did.
Brunson is much more willing pull up 3 point shooter than Shai, so the Spurs will have to guard him differently.
The spurs shut down OKC because without Jdub and Ajay they became paint and 3 point reliant.
The Knicks got a few guys that can attack and hit from the midrange as well. Neutralizing the Spurs defense.
Dont get me wrong, the Spurs are great and will be a force throughout Wemby’s career. But this is the Knick’s year.
