The Bulls have played 16 home games against Eastern conference foes with top 10 defenses(ppg allowed) since Thibodeau took over last season(regular season and playoffs combined). 13 of the 16 finished at 188 or under, in regulation play. This season, 6 out the 8 Bulls home games have gone under this total.
The Pacers are 13-3 under this total this season, in regulation play.
These 2 teams are very familiar with each other; as division foes and also having played a well fought 5 game playoff series last year. They are both in the top 6 in defense and defensive efficiency this season. Chicago gives up only 91.7 possessions per game and allows 93.6 points per 100 possessions. Indiana only give up 93.5 possessions per game and allows 96.2 points per 100 possessions. Both are also in the bottom ten in pace offensively, chicago at 91.7 possessions per game and Indiana at 93.5.
The Pacers have a rough schedule this week, playing Orlando last night, and then Chicago, Orlando and Boston on the road.
I anticipate a defensive, divisional struggle with two slower paced and defensively oriented opponents. I can't envision both teams being able to reach 90 points tonight.
I am on the under 187.5. Good luck.

The Bulls have gone 5 overs in a row w/ an offensive barrage... uncharacteristically fast paced... Deng out, now a somewhat healthy Rose been back the last couple of games.... against a very slow paced gritty Pacers team that doesn't shoot the ball particularly well....
I see this game being played in the trenches and each possession will be very important, no chuckin up shots here.....
I see the Bulls winning like 92-85.... I'm also considering a small play on the Pacers +8.5....
Good luck

Having no Deng and Gibson tonight is a huge blow for the Bulls offensive flow, especially against this Pacer defense. They lose a lot of midrange/outside shooting ability that Boozer can't replicate and Noah definitely can't do.
I hope for some trench warfare tonight as well. I thought the line would be lower than +8.5 so I'm not touching it.

Chicago allow only 76.9 at home, but they can score 100+ and do over.
Indiana under 89 is more safety for me.
The Pacers have given up 100 points or more only twice this season. Plus, the Bulls are offensively depleted with injuries. They may score 100, but they will have to get above average performances from several players(other than Rose) in order to do so, in my opinion.

I'm a huge bulls fan I'd caution taking pacers and or the under in this spot. Bulls w out there 2 best defenders allows for a higher scoring and a change up in offensive tempo. Bulls score a lot on fast break right now as well as quick possessions due to rip Hamilton. The total seems to high and spread seems to high think bulls are going to run to avoid a back n forth game. Just looks to obvious on pacers and under to me

Thanks for the insight. I do think that losing Deng and Gibson will affect their defensive schemes. However, Thibodeau is one of the best team defensive coaches I have witnessed and I think he can scheme for their absence. There will possibly be more opportunities for fast breaks, but do the Bulls have the offensive weaponry to replace their 20+ points per game? I don't think so. Hamilton is aging, but good, and can certainly be defended by George and Stephenson, who are quick. The Pacers frontcourt is huge and will likely outrebound Chicago tonight and slow the pace down, in my opinion.
Good luck to you.

I def don't disagree with you on what you just said. Just think the line is off And Vegas doesn't take nights off. Bulls at home don't struggle scoring I've watched every game for as long as I can remember and consider myself a bball guru. This team is special and I think a lot of people are looking at this game like last yrs playoff games. It won't be like that, Noah has quietly started playing a lot better and the bench mob at home ( Watson korver asik) all shoot and play much better. Just see bulls trying to jump out to a big lead to take pacers out of their comfort zone. You can draw up a lot of schemes but you can't hide boozer on defense so I think Indiana will get there's I'm reluctant on under I see a 101-89 final. Something like that as bulls will need to out score pacers tonight don't think they'll lock them down like theyve been doing to other teams. Just seems like an odd line that's all. I'll be honest I almost always bet the bulls due to their depth and commitment to defense but this game seems strange it's begging for pacers money but I'll take bulls and no over under.

It's always great to get opinions from people who have watched the teams in question. You provide good thoughts. I actually lean towards the Bulls covering the 8.5 tonight.
However, the line on the total has actually shot up from an opening of 184. So there was definite Vegas adjustment. I just don't see the Bulls scoring at a fast clip tonight with the Pacers defensive depth and familiarity with the Bulls personnel. Having no Deng and Gibson will be difficult for the "bench mob" to make up for, imo.
We shall see.
