not a huge Bosh fan, but i disagree with this... Bosh was dominant in 2008... his defense was great, and he was arguably more effective that DHoward on that team... Wade was probably the best player on that team, even coming off the bench...if you had a healthy Rose and Wade, along with Bosh and Howard, this would be a true Dream Team...

i think if we can complete a lineup of the best from 2000-2010(2012) generation, taking them when they are at their best, and have this starting five:

DRose
Kobe
LBJ ( Durant as 6th man )
Tim Duncan
Shaq

for DT '92 we will have:

PG - Magic Johnson (Stockton )

SG - Michael Jordan( Drexler )

SF - Larry Bird ( Pippen )

PF - Karl Malone( Barkley )

C - Robinson (Ewing )

im pretty sure the new generation can compete with Dream Team 1992.

lets take a look:

DRose with his lightning speed can cause trouble for Magic, even for John Stockton.

Kobe CAN guard MJ. I mean, in their primes, what is Kobe compared to MJ? maybe 85%? or maybe 90% of what MJ is? for me, thats close enough for a good battle.

LBJ can sure guard Bird or Scottie. Dont know if they can guard him.

Tim can handle Malone ( or Barkley ), maybe not with his strength but with his size.

Shaq would be on par with Robinson or Ewing imo.

the 2nd unit of Wade, Durant, DH12 would be good enough....cant think right now of more players for the 2nd unit. Maybe CP3 or DWill as PG...and a PF of for ex. KG or something....

it would be one hell of a match, thats for sure

And as they were coming together before they even played a game.....they were called THE DREAM TEAM

The reason I thought they were called the dream team was b/c they were two deep @ every position and when a guy left the floor HIS EQUAL or near equal (MJ then to clyde the glide drexler)....was substituted for them

The squad literally had TWO STARTING LINEUPS

I know folks think that all olympic teams have two starting lineups....but the caliber players on this 92 squad was superior

Even if Dwight was on this squad....where is the strength at the 5 and the 4 position to matchup with Robsinson/Ewing.....Malone/Barkley

To me... that is the mismatch

And folks forget that Robinson and Ewing ran the floor just as good if not better than D12 runs the floor now and they are his equal defensively

This is a very valid point. I also dont think Kobe&#x27;s comments were to off base. As years go by we tend to overembelish things. Magic and Bird were both at the end of there careers. We talk about margin victories, but the best international player was Toni Kukoc. Wade and Rose are two slashers who would have given the 1992 team problems.

Won&#x27;t the match up be affected with how the refs call the game? MJ would be shooting twice or three times the FTs he&#x27;s taking if he plays in the current ERA. And LBJ will probably be going to the line half the time back then.

we are comparing two teams... if this team has to draw from a mythical scenario where we pull players from an entire generation, when in their prime, then clearly they have lost the argument...

sometimes the people on this site blow my mind... this argument is very simple, and yet nobody has addressed it...

IF the current players were healthy, and this year we were able to assemble the best possible team, COULD THEY COMPETE with the Dream Team?

here's your 2012 team, if healthy!

Starters: D Rose, K Bryant, K Durant, L James, D Howard
Bench: CP3, R Westbrook, D Wade, C Bosh, T Chandler, D Williams, Carmelo (not necessarily in that order)

in my opinion, that team would at least be able to compete... they have the depth that CT1016 was talking about, and they have specific players (Rose, LBJ, Durant) who can cause serious matchup problems for their '92 counterparts...

would they win consistently against that team? i think probably less than 50% of the time... personally... but it would be a good matchup!

I&#x27;ll just make it quick and to the point. &#xD;&#xA;11 HOFamers and NBA legends against this current line up comprised of the likes of K-Love, Chandler, Iguadala , etc. a lot of first or second time All Stars.&#xD;&#xA;Rose too quick for Magic? &#xD;&#xA;Rose can drive by all he want with the likes of defensive standouts like Ewing and Robinson inside, I love my chances. Just look how ineffective Rose was driving the paint against the Heat in the playoffs. Now on the defensive side of the ball, Magic will post up the much smaller Rose all day long and "Baby hook" him to death. Simply no comparison here. &#xD;&#xA;This year&#x27;s crop will compete, but imho won&#x27;t win more than 3-4 games out of ten against the Dream Team. And this imo is a very liberal number. You got better skilled "team" players and shooters with the Dream Team while the 2012 is more athletic, but smaller. Match- up nightmares all around.&#xD;&#xA;Well I guess it wasn&#x27;t really short and quick to the point, but I digress.

Simply no comparison here.[/Quote]well... aside from the fact that you totally missed the point of the argument when you included "the likes of Kevin Love"... who would obviously not come close to making the roster......anybody who thinks there is "no comparison" between Magic and DRose does not have the basketball IQ to be involved in this debate... i was watching the NBA when Magic came into the league, and i consider him (at this moment) to be the greatest PG to ever play the game... so there is no "modern day bias" here... but Rose is without question "in the conversation" as being one of the great PGs to ever play the game, and i assure you he creates just as many matchup problems for Magic as Magic does for Rose...yes, the &#x27;92 Dream Team would probably beat the REAL 2012 Dream Team... but anybody suggesting is not "not even debatable" either: (a) doesn&#x27;t know basketball, (b) has an "old school bias", or (c) hasn&#x27;t given this enough thought...
