When you rest Jordan's accolades and esteem and just look at it from a scout's point of view. One can make an argument James is the better basketball player. LeBron can do magic with that basketball where as Jordan was the better overall sportsman. The gambler. The man who made the shot for North Carolina and carried the league to prominance. He did get a gift with all the expansion that was going on in the NBA. Miami, Charlotte, Orlando, Minnesota, Toronto and Vancouver created 90 jobs in the NBA. Diluting the league during that time. But Jordan did what nearly all greats must do to sustain supremacy. He had to pay his dues. He had to go thru Boston and later Detroit. Once he got that first taste he did not relinquish one bit. Thats where James still has the cieling.
Privledged to have seen both, I will give the edge to Jordan. The nostalgia of 6-0 Finals. The Defensive awards. the 72 Wins. The two 3peats. Etc
James still has father time on his side. But the clock is ticking. As is the inevitable wearing down of the body. Ultimately, James will still be mentioned with the greats. When you takl about the history of the game and names like Russell, Magic, Bird, Dr J and LeBron will be grouped together. Guys like Joe Dumars, Vince Carter, Grant Hill and Carmelo Anthony are not in the same bracket.
