I see sports wagering as a means of entertainment and extra spending income.  Last MLB season, I've made over 74K.

Don't you understand that if you keep saying "I cant I cant" You made it impossible to win.. No such thing , you must continue to try to be successful at this game... You sound like a quitter and, I never seen a quitter win.

betting cannot be a job because of this complex world we live in these days.  you need that consistent money to make a living.
for my self, i have hopes and dreams that some day i will be good enough to use it as a tool to make extra money.  All along I have treated betting like an experiment.  experiment gone wrong that is.  I think this year things have really made sense.  but im not going to go there until i have consistency.  Overall no, im not up, im down.  and i will continue to be down until i find a solution to my work.  I treat it very seriously because there is a massive potential.  However poker you can make a livi thng from,  why?  because you are playing vs other players not the casino.  once you mess with the casino, thats when things start to get real harry. the casino is powerful, i have respect, do i like it? no way, i like it just as much as it likes me.  no mercy no way.  but you got to respect it.  It gives you an opportunity to double what ever amount of money you desire.  but if you are going to attempt, you are going to play by its rule.  plain and simple.  its not what it seems, there are deep deep things that go on with it.  suddenly you are not only going against the casino, you are going against your self.  that is problematic.  I'm in it really deep.  No reason to back out for me.  I have a rabbit foot.  yeah you herd me a mofo rabbit foot. any person gambling should have one.  it might not help you win all the time, but it does generate a little bit of a spark.  but im the guy throwing out these unherad of concepts so i have an awareness to this all.  Do i think people should bet, absolutely 100% blow out winner NO.  But people will do what they want.  personally i do it because i have hopes and dreams and i make a strive to evolve my game.

I am not saying I CANT.
I am saying I DONT WANT TO.

I want a better life for myself.
Gambling is not going to help me achieve it, period!

Don't you see are providing yourself with false hopes and dreams, whilst the casino or the bookmaker is making money no matter how it goes?

Even if you win, the bookmaker also wins, 10% or 20% takeout ... in Baseball the odds can be so low for the favorite you wish to pick - you end up being in a vicious cycle that will never let you come up with the upper hand, never.

The only exception is to win the mega millions lottery but the chances of that happening are chances that it won't happen even if you live until the age of 1000 !!!

You want to make your dreams come true? Don't bet.
Find another way to make money.

There are much better ways to make money besides this, don't listen to others who call you a "quitter" ... quitting risking your financial assets and money is a GOOD decision.

    Good luck buddy!

By making a few hundred bucks a week are you referring to this person who lost over a million dollars?

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2395877/A-terrifying-parable-addictive-power-internet-gambling-It-began-5-online-bet-Then-ex-Major-gambled-away-750-000--family.html

"He lost £17,000 on a single tennis match, after backing the Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka, then World No.1, against an unknown" - sounds like a "smart" bet to me ... but he lost it ...

Or this person who tried to make a few bucks as well?

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2304602/High-rolling-gambler-lost-1billion-just-14-months-goes-takes-casino-high-court-claiming-took-advantage-addiction.html

You are not doing people a favor when you encourage them to keep on betting ... you might win, you might lose, but for some people this can be something that destroys their lives!

I've been gambling for years now.

Even if you turned $800 into $83k you haven't stopped, you continue to gamble ... that's a destructive pattern ... people have been gambling with larger amounts and got screwed ... you might be "in the game" for a while but don't ever underestimate what gambling can do to you both ways.

Let me make a important statement about other gambling...... I would never tell anyone to play at a casino , their is absolute no chance you can win at a casino .. imo    Casino games and slots are a total joke and a total lose  in my mind ..Therefor u are partially correct about gambling...Sports betting is different for me anyhow.

No doubt ... sports betting has better chances than casino games, but in both you are betting on random outcomes.

Yes, there are more chances to make some money here, but many people find it addictive as much as if not more than casino games!

So I would say it again ... any form of gambling can be destructive ... yes, with sports betting you have more chances but you are still depending on refs, players, their mood, weather conditions, rigged games, and so many things and other factors which you have no control of.

It's not so straightforward to pick up winners in sports ... information might help but until a certain extent ... eventually in game time, there are so many random outcomes which you simply have no control of ... and that is very much similar to casino games.

dontknowhowtobe. If I started off with a 100k bankroll, do you think that it would be possible to make a living wagering?? Betting anywhere from $400-800 a game.

Yes..... if sticking to those betting amounts.... you can easily make a living. That's around half a percent of your overall bankroll. The overall bankroll is your cushion for error. When you have all the money to play with behind you.... you will not worry about losing.

people lose because they get scared. They're scared because they love to win but they don't understand losing which is what the OP suffers from.

Gambling is risky, no discipline in the world can help you make money when you gamble ... that's why you have it but you think you don't because you are betting against a system that is much stronger than you.

The system isn't stronger than you.

If it was stronger than you than it wouldn't throw you out of a casino when you win too much at blackjack. If the system was stronger than you than it wouldn't give you much less comp dollars for playing poker at their casino than playing slots. Right? You're still "gambling" both ways? right? If the system was stronger than you it wouldn't hide you in a fancy environment with no windows, no clocks, fake pretenses, and tons of alcohol that they encourage you to drink and give to you for free. That doesn't sound like a strong system to me. Just sounds like they feed of the weak.

You have no evidence that you will lose in the long run. You keep talking about randomness. Who's to say you won't go on a 10 year win streak compared a 10 year losing streak. You're chances of winning and losing are equal. It's up to you to pick your spots.

Everything is a gamble. Remember that. Go start your business that you think is a sure shot..... never a sure shot. You're gambling. You're whole life revolves around you paying for shiit for no reason. I need to get into manhattan i have to pay some feckin bullshiit azz toll for 7 dollars both ways to cross the tunnel. That's feckin bullshiit. The whole world you live in is designed for you to pay the juice. Remember that.

    No, I don't think that's possible.
You can't make a "job" out of something that has too many random outcomes ... no one expected the lights to be turned off in the NBA game tonight, it did affect the totals and more.

You can't really know in advance what would happen in each and every game, it's impossible.

    I disagree.
I wasn't suffering from losing, even if I tried very hard to pick winners the system is paying out to me 90% of what I risk ... long term you would lose from such system.

You need to pick 65% winners to possibly break even, it might be possible but just guessing so many random outcomes honestly, I don't see how you can do that?

I agree our life in general is a pure gamble, we make choices, we take risks ... but gambling your money is not something that would help you make steady income.

Google takes risks, when it tried to reach more countries, it took risks, but these kind of risks where not about pure randomness.

With sports, there is also some less "randomness" which you are referring to, but in the end of the day - the outcome is still much more random than you investing and giving it all to a business... of course everything can fail or win... but to pick 100% winners without losing or losing very few ones? how many people can do that?

If it was stronger than you than it wouldn't throw you out of a casino when you win too much at blackjack. If the system was stronger than you than it wouldn't give you much less comp dollars for playing poker at their casino than playing slots. Right? You're still "gambling" both ways? right? You need to pick 65% winners to possibly break even, it might be possible but just guessing so many random outcomes honestly, I don't see how you can do that?
It's much more easier to fail.

    OK.....

Build a bank roll...... or just stop..... no point in crying about it.

At the end of the day. You're the one making the decisions. You're never forced to bet or do anything. You're in control of what you do. You wanna bet 2000 while you can comfortably lose 1000 then thats on you. The bookie never told you to make that bet. You did. So what does it all come down to? Losing is inevitable you will lose. Winning is inevitable too.

And here we go with the winners talk again..... just concentrate on your win rate...... if you're winning with respect to what you're betting even its at a  clip of 50 cents per bet you're still winning. That's all that matters.
