Here's a writer who had enough courage to write SOMETHING about the Utah/Denver over 209 fix

Funny that you mention this because as I was watching this FIXER, I was thinking geez this comentator(not gonna mention who) sounds dissapointed that there arent more fouls being called. He sounds like he took the over. I mean really if you were just reading his commentary instead of hearing it during the game, you would have thought you were reading a Jazz/Nuggets over rally thread here in the Forums.

and Just to be sure the books aren't in the on the fix.  Could they really be that stupid???  Why would they mess a good thing up??? Why steal from a sucker when they are giving you money???

Well... I guess.. what would really happen if a book was busted fixing a game?  They would just have to close up shop, but I highly doubt the industry would suffer.

The average Utah Jazz road game this season was going OVER the Total by +6.5 points. This one went OVER the Total by 9 points. So, what's the big deal?

Utah has a bunch of stiffs on defense that foul a lot. So does Denver. Boozer, Okur, Kenyon Martin, NayNay Hilarious, Linas Klieza -- careless defenders or physical thugs. If a game is going to have more fouls than average called, it would be in a match-up like this. For three years, Jerry Sloan has been constantly moaning about this group of players not playing defense. George Karl wouldn't know defense if it stranged him with both hands around the throat. Lazy defenders foul. Period.

Man how many of you guys are gonna bring this up on this thread.

Im sure MrBator took the stats from the previous matchups into effect for this game. Any halfwit could have figured that out.

But the way the game played out was far from what the final stats told of this game.

It was obvious even to a dumbass douchebag that the Refs were bailing out the players who were missing their shots(look at the FG pct for both teams which would have been a lot worse if not for the late whistle calls that each team was getting).

So Greengrass, how do you propose someone make their picks.

    Flip a coin?

Maybe bet on the team with the cooler looking Uniforms. Thats seems to work for some people(a few times at least).

Maybe some of you guys who are on the right side of the fix can hook us up with one. That would be nice.

NBA is fixed no question, go the opposite of your instincts and you will win money easily. so what if it is fixed? you still have a 50/50 chance. just pick the opposite of the public, everytime.

Reminds me of a gig I remember reading about years ago, and one of the old timer locals confirmed it. I think it was involving the Detroit Pistons in the Seventies, but I'm not entirely sure. ( It doesn't change the story anyway who was actually involved )

The mob paid off the guy who ran the clock. After every inbounds play he would "forget" to start it for maybe a second or two. Have no idea how many inbound plays there are in a pro basketball game, but it would definitely add up to some serious time.

Books noticed that for Pistons' home games, the games were going over the total on a regular basis. They started shading the lines upwards. They still went over. There were some big bets coming in on the over and eventually some outfits/locals even stopped taking bets on the total.

Somebody figured out the play, and everything went back to normal. Nice little scam, and only a select few knew what was going on in the beginning.
