Gotta also remember that in none of the regular season meetings between the Clips and Grizz that the Clippers were NEVER 100% healthy (still winning by 4pts, 23pts, and 9 pts in all respective wins) missing CP3 twice, Caron Butler in the most recent, and Matt Barnes (no seriously, they need him!) in the games against MEM. Now at 100% health and maximum effort to go up 2-0...you gotta be insane to go MEM in this spot. As soon as LAC score the first point, MEM starters are gonna get the bubble guts and crap themselves. Expect resiliance from Gasol and Prince, and the rest to be absolute trash tonight.
That's a great observation Forbes. My criticism of the clips was throughout the regular season my rule I developed for the clippers were that as long as they are not playing the elite teams like Miami, OKC, Denver, Spurs, etc. Its usually a safe cover. Clippers were usually good for the double digit victory against average and below .500 teams. But you are right I did'nt factor their injuries during their streak.
The 1 pattern I did see between rudy gaye on toronto and memphis is that he single handedly keeps them in the game all the way to the end. Rudy Gaye has this uncanny ability to have the game decided by a jumpshot whether its a 3 or a 2 in the final seconds. How many times have we seen rudy gaye send the game to overtime or win the game on his jumper? And you know what? That basterd rudy gaye will hit that jumper. That's why it was always profitable to take memphis as a dog because you knew regardless of the score rudy gaye is gonna keep it close somehow and the griz have defense to lean on. I saw the same with toronto going down to the wire since he's been traded there.
Rudy gaye is gone and memphis has no big shot makers. Even if Memphis does have a lead, how many times have they coughed it up to only win by 2 or 3pts this season. I could'nt cover sh-t with this memphis team' this year.
Clippers defense is really underated this year also.
