Teams who play back to back 7 games series are 1-8 vs next opponent in that series. Only super team Celtics with Pierce, Garnett and Allen won their series since 1990

Add in the fact the Knicks swept and it seems like a very uphill battle for whoever advances to play them.

Also consider the fact neither Detroit or Cleveland are exactly sporting a rich history of championship teams in general. Without the Lebron era in Cleveland these two cities have been total dead zones for sports titles. Pistons would at least have home court but it seems set up perfectly for the 76ers to eliminate Boston and be so spent after that series which also went 7 games that they couldn't even muster a win next series. Now they get another opponent off a long series.

I imagine it's a serious advantage and a good reason why the Knicks are so short to win the East. Not often a team is favored over the 1 seed like that.
