List Your Top 3 Horror Films

Wow this is HARD!

Horror has so many sub genres. Ghost stories, to stuff like Jason or Freddy, to newer gory flicks like Saw, to real life sort of stuff like The Hitcher.

Almost impossible for me to name 3 so just gonna brainstorm different sub genres.

Elm Street 3. The first Freddy was probably a better representative as it was so raw and actually scary, but I was 9 when Elm Street 3 came out and it was just a movie I watched 1000 times. My pops used to own a video store back in the day, and I remember the day it was released on VHS I made him take home one of the store copies so I could watch over the weekend. Then when it wasnt so new anymore, I took one home and watched it over and over. It was the perfect line in that series of true horror and the comedy and craziness that it morphed into for later installments.

Now if you are talking haunted houses or ghost stuff, the exorcist is the king although to be honest, I can't sit and watch that front to back. Its pretty boring until the end, but still scary. I remember in 10th grade on Halloween i watched it with some buddies and booze and weed. Scared some chicks that were with us. Now it was time to walk home and I did a cool and calm walk for about 100 feet and then RAN FOR MY LIFE. Next day at the bus stop I was greeted with WALLY U FAGGGGOT!!! WE SAW U RUN LIKE A GIRL HOME. LOL!

Oh man, something just came up....I'll pop back in later on if I remember. I have a handful of horror movies I was gonna rip off.

Just picked up The Exorcist for $5 at Wal-mart and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre at Target for $8  

Event Horizon

you can NOT be serious. that has to be one of the WORST SciFi's EVER. I'm not big on listening to reviewers BUT agree with those that threw rocks at this one and the Rotten Tomatoes 24% rating

I will throw one at you. Shadow of the Vampire (2000) about German Director F. W. Murnau (played by John Malkovich) making his silent classic vampire movie Nosferatu in 1921. he couldn't get license from the Bram Stoker estate for the novel Dracula SO he ripped off the story and just changed the names. Dracula became Count Orlok (played by Willem Dafoe as actor Max Schreck), Jonathan Harker became Thomas Hutter (played by Eddie Izzard as actor Gustav von Wangenheim) and Mina Harker became Ellen Hutter (played by the lovely Catherine McCormack as actress Greta Schroeder)

the "hooker" in the movie is that Max Schreck really IS a vampire that Murnau has made a "devil's bargin" with to play the count. it's a short 90 minutes but has oodles of suspense and is well acted by all involved esp Dafoe who got an Oscar nomination. Roger Ebert had it on his list of The Best 10 Movies of 2000. I think it is "Horror as Art"

A lot of movies that scared as a kid didn't age well. 

So many memorable horror films.  Good stories make the following standout.

Let the right one in.  The Fly (1986).  Scream.  Silence of the lamb.

 

 

Silence of the Lambs are one of my favorite movies of all time but I wouldn't classify it as a horror, more of a psychological thriller.
