First off...Snell pitches pretty well against the Nats. They hit .279 against him with only 12 RBIs in 111 AB. As for Stammen...I have a new rule. Instantly fade a rookie making his first start if he has no picture. It worked for the Reds against Augenstein and I expect it to work here. The Nats, we all know are bad. They can hit pretty well, but Snell is pretty fresh having only pitched 2 innings in his last outing as it was haulted by rain. Snell has had his bad outings but he's also had some very good outings, but the main reason behind this play is I expect the Pirates to tee off against Stammen. And even if he does pitch well, they probably won't keep him in long and it will be left up to the wonderful bullpen of the Washington Nationals. Plain and simple...the Nats have lost 10 of their last 11 games while the Bucs have won 5 straight. Now...surprisingly, the best pitcher in the Nationals' pen is Ron Villone who hasn't given up a run so far. But he has pitched 3 innings in the last 2 games and may either be unavailable or inaffective. Other than him, their bullpen is just awful. Sure it would be really sad to lose 2 straight 4 game series at home but the Nationals can do it. Both teams are hitting and the Pirates just have the better pitching from what I see.
