It makes sense to play 1st 5's if starting pitching matchups carry the most weight in your handicapping process.
Let's also not forget that these late inning bullpen catastrophes are killing a lot of otherwise well played under the total bets as well.
That's what I'm doing. I've been a 1st 5 innngs bettor for the last 3 MLB season and doing pretty good with hitting 68%. I've learned that you have to rule out the bullpen factors and other "accidents" as games carry on. It took me 2 losing seasons to figure out how to bet 1st 5 get to my profitable seasons.

I agree, i deal with it when a starter just dosent have his stuff. When you have the lead for the entire game and get smoked in the 9th inn, i feel like i want to jump out the window.
