I feel it is always important when backing a team, to consider the quality of their bullpen, and of course, the freshness of that bullpen.
10. Royals: Soria, Farnsworth, Cruz. This may come as a surprise, but there may be value backing the Royals on occasion due to their solid closer, and proven setup men.
9. Chicago White Sox: Jenks, Thornton, Putz, Pena. Could be higher on th list if Jenks was healthier, but a lot of live arms in this pen. This team could be a huge cash cow if the staff stays healthy
8. Texas Rangers: Francisco, Feliz, Ray. Really? This could be a little high, but I feel they are quite solid in the 8th and 9th this year.
7. San Diego Padres: Bell, Mujica. Again, this team is solid once it gets to the late innings.
6. Los Angelos Dodgers: Broxton, Sherrill, Trancosco. Broxton is lights out at the end, and the other two are pretty solid as well. Sherrill hasnt had a great spring, but should pick it up.
5. Oakland As: Bailey, Zeigler, Wuertz. Young arms, but if they stay healthy, they will likely protect the lead (especially in that park)
4. St Louis Cards: Franklin, McClellan, Motte, I have never liked Franklin, but somehow this pen gets the job done in the crunch
3. Boston Red Sox: Papelbon, Okajima, Bard, Do I need to explain?
2. New York Yankees: Rivera, Joba, If Joba does infact stay in the pen it is trouble for the rest of the AL
1. LA Angels: Fuentes, Rodney, Shields. Im thinkin Shields comes back to his 08 form this year. Either way, this organization always seems to have a top bullpen. I see that happening in 2010 as well.
Honorable mentions: Giants, Braves, and Rays
This list will likely change immensely in the coming weeks!!!!
Good luck all
