ESPN was great 25-30 years ago… before they got bought out by Disney, became the NBA Channel, and entered the world of politics.
Their baseball analysis was good in the 90’s
Now… everytime you turn the channel on its wall to wall basketball coverage, talking about nonsense that no one cares about.
No more highlights…. And no other sports coverage… just the NBA - which IMHO is a shell of what it was in the past, and definitely thee LEAST entertaining sport in the country now!
How any of you guys watch the NBA is hard to understand… I’ve tried plenty of times to get back into it… it just doesn’t work.
Teams shooting 50 3’s a game from damn near half court, 7’0 footers that can’t play defense along with 95% of the rest of the league, and dozens of fake phantom fouls every single game.
Other than teenagers…
who’s watching this crap?

NBA is nearly unwatchable to me since they basically made defense illegal. But that is a whole other topic.
Anyhow BSPN became a place where they would have fake debates between people who couldn't possibly be on the opposite side of every issue.
Also it became a catch phrase show.
"The chosen one has become the frozen one." "Booyah!"
My friends call it the Booyah network.
I want to be informed on what happened. I don't want to hear 28 "experts" and washed up former players yucking it up making jokes during most of the time they set aside for analysis.
I have taken to listening to local fan podcasts for the teams I am interested in betting and watching condensed games to see what actually happened and see who performed who didn't, what was the turning point in the game, and what is the fall out. It is a better way to build your sports knowledge.

The ONLY way I can watch MLB these days is through MLB-TV so I can watch each teams local feed. And even then, I have to turn down the volume some of the time.

I'm with you. I always looked forward to the game of the week on NBC Saturdays. Before all the cable channels. God we are so lucky to live in those days.

Why does MLB allow Espn to do baseball? Like MLB has all these options and networks are in a bidding war to get the National TV Rights...Lets be real here...The national audience do not want to watch a MLB baseball game. Most boring sport of them all and demographic wise brings in the least ad revenue for 30-49 age group......You can agree to disagree...but if it was a great product...it will be more on National TV...other than the 1 game on Saturday for half the season and 1 game on Sunday night when there is pretty much no other sports on..
Even this year NHL has been on TV more and more...
Pecking order
NFL
CFB
NBA
NHL and MLB tied.
Mayweather bet 450000 on

ESPN should do college sports and that’s it. They suck at everything else. It pains me that they have the NHL. Add that to their left wing nut point of views they can go screw

I'm guessing it's because ABC/Disney paid the most for the rights to broadcast their games, but i agree the coverage is awful. Baseball was my first love as kid, other sports may as well not even existed. I grew up with Jon Miller and Joe Morgan in the 90's and would look forward to the "Sunday Night Baseball and Wednesday Night Doubleheader"
What i liked about them compared to today is that they would just focus on announcing the game and not get hung up on the things the announcers today do. I could see the gradual decline of ESPN's baseball production as the sport got less popular admittedly, but when they put A-Rod and Jessica Mendoza in the booth that was about it for me. They spend entire innings droning on about soemthing completely irrelevant to what is happening in front of them....almost like the action the viewer is watching is secondary to them and they're just there to lecture the viewer about something totally different. Same with Eduardo Perez, he sucks too.
I had it on the other night and tuned out after a few innings. ESPN is pretty much catered to the young or unemployed during the day and that switch happened over 10 years ago. Trivial talk shows with a bunch of phonies who get paid to be outraged or sell a message, not much different than any mainstream news channel. To me, it isn't much different than "Jerry Springer" except the people who yell at one another don't get to physically assault each other.
I don't mind this era of NBA at all, but ESPN made the switch to cater to it in the mid-2000's when Lebron was starting out and the ABC merged with ESPN in 2006. NBA does a great deal of business in China and China pretty much owns USA cable companies. not hard to figure out why ESPN focuses so much on NBA

Watching the NHL broadcast on ESPN I noticed way too much "quiet" time from the play by play guy. Doc Emrick was always telling you where the puck was, who was controlling it, And never missed a beat while he was doing it.

You guys sound like a bunch of old white men who want their country back??…However I do agree that ESPN sucks and the NBA is the worse but baseball SUCKS…
Slow as hell..
If you ever have insomnia, just turn on a baseball game..

Agree. No way in hell I can i watch a full baseball game unless I have money on it. Even the games I have money on I can't sit and watch every pitch. I'll have it on in the background and if I hear something is brewing then I get in front of the TV. Won't ever just watch a baseball game to just watch a game.
