Off Topic: Anybody Else Betting the Lax Tourney?

Today:

Hofstra +4.5 at Cornell - This should be 10-8 somebody

Tomorrow:

Virginia -4.5 vs. Villanova - Hoos are over-rated, but should take out some recent frustration on outmanned Cats.

Maryland +2.5 at Notre Dame - Irish are undefeated mystery team; Terps should be way better than they are.

The rest of the lines seem about right.  Not like last year when a many first round games were gifts.

Ghittleman?  He could have brought a cot to the Nova game.  I think Virginia led 18-0 at one point.    They should beat Hopkins.  Maryland will remain dangerous.  I think Princeton is the best coached team left, but they are so young.  Duke always seems to find a way to lose, but they look to have the best horse again.  I think Syracuse is, at best, the 4th best team in the country,but they love this time of year.  Cornell's not going anywhere.  UNC won't get by Duke.  What a wonferful time of the year.

Oh, 5Dimes is the only one, I think.

ya ghitelman....kids a beast. Was fun ripping shots on him in my
 backyard growing up. You have to be crazy to be a lax goalie. I have got in the cage for fun and taking shots off your knees, ankles and arms gets really old.

I wonder what the spread will be vs hopkins. Probably UVA-2.5. Petramala is a big game coach and he will have hopkins ready. I have followed Hopkins very closely over the years. I went to high school with the three Peyser brothers, who were all beasts and all won championships at JHU. I would say UVA wins 12-8, but it should be close for most the game.

It's the worst position in sports. We had to get our fraternity goalie stoned before each game, or else he wouldn't do it.  It's a nice ticket to a potential college scholarship, though.  My son just tried it for the first time.  I think he's going back to attack. 

See if you can find out how Shamel Bratton's wrist is.  When the Hoos get him involved, they are much better.  It looked like he picked up a nick today.  I'll tell you, for people who don't know much about lax, but think it might be fun to watch, UVa/Hopkins should be great. Ealier game in Baltimore was like an in-door game, 16-15.  Neither team's D is very god, so, weather willing, we should see 26 goals or so next Saturday.  Final four should be Duke, Virginia, Princeton and - I'll take a flyer on a Maryland upset of the Cuse.

I worked with all the bratton brothers at Lacrosse Unlimited back in the day.....I can get that info. I bet he plays though.

Getting good at Lacrosse is such an easy way to get into a good college. Half of my friends got into great schools because of it. Get your kid into some good summer recruiting camps. Maybe he can catch someones eye and get a scholarship. Stress fractures ended my lax career early or I probably would have played college lax.

This is my son's first year, and it isn't going particularly well.  He's a little unlucky in that it seems everyone in his grade is playing lax, so he's really going to have to try harder than he has been, or he's going to get left in the dust.  It's just exploding here in Western PA.  Even meth lab/crack den communities like Butler now have programs.  Got a game today at Franklin Regional.
 
My roommate in college was from Cold Spring Harbor, but was a football player.  He knew several players on the UVa lax team, though.

Maine, what book has these? That is awesome. I ALWAYS wanted to know why the hell they didn't make lines for it. At least the Final 4 since it takes place on Memorial Day w/e. Let me know, pm if need be

Benny- Have your kid (not saying you have one) but when, just have him face off or play goalie. If he is tall and has some speed. Put a long pole in his hands.

I don't know if it changed, but it use to be, when I was in college, the highest GPA of all NCAA Div-1 sports. Something me or my friends ever helped, but as you brought up, look at who are the best schools in this sport. UVA, Hopkins, Princeton, Cornell, Navy, Cuse , ND(west coast lax).

I have been looking for lax lines for awile with no luck. I will check Jamaica. 
 
Goalie a great position. I played as goaltender in college. Was the odd looking 6'3 190 pounder between the pipes that looked more like a defenseman.  After awhile, you stop feeling the pain. Usually after the third or 4th stinger each game/practice. Nothing better than stuffing someone.....My only regret is never being able to score a goal.
