happy the jays have killed me this year so far,  as i keep thinking hey are overvalued,, factor that in with oakland being undervalued,, and it wasnt a cool weekend for me with those two meeting up, maybe the blue jays are for real...

figg I get a chance to see them up close every year and I really think Cito Gaston and Gene Tenace have had an enormous impact on their confidence at the plate.  Just wondering what others think - its quite an offence they have...

scutoro ,lind and hill have been performing sick well,,  their 2 out efficiency is best in the majors , there is no team that is hitting better , the question is, will they keep that up..

Scutaro may fade a bit, Lind has been solid since being called up last year, and Hill is probably among the most under-rated 2B men in the Majors offensively... Rios and Wells need to pick it up to offset any fade in others' peformances... the 2 out efficiency is soooo un-Jays-like and that would worry me the most when backing them.

If the Mets would score at all for Santana I would lay the 1.5 in a heartbeat tonight....I am a Braves Fan and Lowe has not been that great of late.....in his last start against Florida he won but look inside the numbers and he got beat on pretty good in that game..Braves won a slugfest..Mets are rolling right now so I may still lay the 1.5 but I just know they will win 2-1 when I do that..

Barajas has been effective, and Millar brings a much needed right handed bat to relieve Overbay (who notably doesn't hit lefties well at all historically) ... its a pretty good mix so far at least.  Still think Gaston's calming/confidence-inspiring influence is simply huge... 
 
FYI Scott Rolen reportedly went around the clubhouse boosting Gene Tenace to all the vets and rooks alike when he joined the team with Gaston last season - he had Tencace as a hitting coach for a number of years in Philly and went out of his way to get "buy in" in the clubhouse.

I agree that the jays are playing over their heads while oakland is undervalued, but i dont see anything changing until the all-star break. Toronto will probably play well up till that point then start to fade off. Oakland also has strong starts to the second half of the season so I see that time to be the turning points for both teams.

The Jays have a bit of a dilemma when Ryan comes off the DL..Closing is still one of their big question marks for me, and I have actually had more confidence playing them with BJ on the DL.

yeah, im looking back, and i have been betting repeatedly against the jays , and for the a's...   maybe im jumping the gun.

On AJ's post you find his reasoning for betting on Arroyo after people questioning his bad game last time up.... After what I read, Arroyo always bounce back after a bad outing and never get two in a row + the only two times the D'Backs have got'n two big games offensevly was against STL when Carpenter was shuting them down for 2 or 3 innings before getting hurt, then the crappy bullpenn came in and gave up a tonn of runs. The 2nd time was against Nationals I belive where the same thing happen, the starter got hurt early and the crappy bullpenn came in in the 2nd or 3rd inning (every bullpenn looks crapy this year, can't even thrust Papelbon any more..)
So I like the under, but going with Arroyo instead as the Reds finaly have started producing some run... But, the one time Garland faced the Reds he gave up only 1 run in 8 innings of work...

my take on the whole jays situation u guys are talking about.....

you do realize they have played only one series within the division...whereas tampa has played almost all of theirs in the division...........could explain why the standings are the way they are

Could be a classic - thing is the Jays historically do well in division against the top 3, a fact that this line of criticism (echoed by others such as Teddy Covers) fails to take into account IMO...

Anyway, we shall see if they can continue to play .500 ball in division and maintain their ground

Do you see the Jays maintaining any kind of momentum going forward, or is a regression to the mean more likely later in May?

Just my .02, but the Jays have yet to play Boston, Yanks, or Rays so that will tell a lot.  Tomorrow should be good with Burnett vs Halladay
