The Braves (75-83) have their first double-digit winning streak since winning 14 straight in June 2022. It is the longest active streak in the major leagues.
The Nationals (64-94) have lost nine of 12 meetings with Atlanta this season.
The pitching matchup for the series finale features Atlanta right-hander Bryce Elder (8-10, 5.36 ERA) and Washington left-hander Andrew Alvarez (1-1, 2.84).
Elder began the season in Triple-A Gwinnett but will end up leading Atlanta in starts. Wednesday's game will be his 28th start of the year.
When Elder is good, he can be very good. He has allowed two or fewer runs in five his past six starts, most recently surrendering only one run in seven innings during a win over the Detroit Tigers on Friday.
However, when Elder is bad, he can be very bad. Two starts ago, he gave up six runs in 4 1/3 innings to the Houston Astros. He has allowed five or more runs seven times this year, once allowing 10 runs and twice giving up eight runs.
Elder has made five career starts against Washington, going 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA. His lone appearance vs. the Nationals this year resulted in a no-decision after he threw six innings of one-run ball on May 14.
Alvarez is a rookie who will face the Braves for the first time while making the fifth start of his career. After allowing two runs in 15 2/3 innings over his first three starts (1.15 ERA), he was roughed up by the New York Mets on Friday when he yielded six runs, four earned, in 3 1/3 innings.

The Blue Jays, who led the division by five games on Sept. 16, have lost five of their past six games. They do hold the tiebreaker over the Yankees because of their 8-5 advantage in the season series.
The Blue Jays were upset with a couple of calls in the second inning on Tuesday. George Springer's bases-loaded smash over third base was ruled to be foul, and then he was retired on a disputed called third strike.
Toronto is scheduled to start right-hander Max Scherzer (5-4, 5.06 ERA) on Wednesday. He is 5-6 with a 5.67 ERA in 13 career starts against the Red Sox but has not faced them since 2023.
The moment won't be too big for Scherzer, certainly. The 18-year veteran has played in the postseason in 10 different seasons, including on two World Series-winning teams.
Left-hander Garrett Crochet (17-5, 2.69 ERA) is the expected Boston starter on Wednesday. He is 3-1 with a 1.31 ERA in five career games (three starts) against the Blue Jays. In two starts against them in April, Crochet posted a 1-1 record and a 2.13 ERA.
