Help ! Someone is suing me for 22.8 mil....

Not necessary a court appearance unless it has a court date appearance.  But it sounds like you just got this.  The summon is just to let you know a lawsuit is filed against you.  I am no lawyer but I wouldn't sweat it.  Here is what I did.  I went to the City Hall and they asked me to contact their attorney directly.  I called their attorney at first and they asked me to give them my SS# for them to confirm.  I was pissed.  I literally told them to f..ck off.  They said they would look into it...for 6 months I kept getting letters from them and the court.  So I decided to ignore.  Because they wanted that money so bad and it's not a small number, their attorney finally put in the time to get it resolved.  Because it's big money, they will get it resovled.  You don't have to sweat it.  Just the normal FYI to them is good enough.  I am no lawyer so you many want to consult one since your lawsuit is 22 mil.  Mine was only 200K so I took it into my hand :)

I did send it back.  Called them, went to the City Hall..and I still kept getting letters from both.  I didn't want to spend money on these crooks.  After giving some thought logically, I decided to ignore.  My experience was their attorney had to put in the time and effort to get it right.  Otherwise everything you do is a waste of time and unnecessary stress.

I agree with everything you have said. although not sure knowing  your case , maybe your lastname was spelled totally wrong and is nothing to be worried about...but in " footballs" case its a middle initial that's wrong..a little more paperwork or investigating maybe.

I would be proactive if anything, some of us are stronger than others. IMHO

Once again thank you for all responses. 

I will send it back. Apparently,  that this guy is cheap too for not hiring a lawyer to represent him in this case with that 22.8 mil law sue.

Both first and last name matched except for the company name.  They claimed I placed a $200K purchase for xxx company that I didn't work for and never heard of in my life

goodluck , its better to take control of situations that you can control and I guess run like hell and keep looking behind your back all the time the ones you cant.....and if all fails counter sue

First of all, if you live in the U.S. and cannot speak proper English or use proper grammar in  writing, then that is most likely why you are losing your job at the local 7-11 and will have trouble finding a new job.

And someone trying to get 22 mil out of someone in court that does not have a lawyer on the case is probably a scam artist and is not even a real summons.  He will probably send you something else soon asking you to settle out of court for 10k and to send it to him through Western Union. lol
