Free Play Contest Platform Closure

Covers Community Members,

After careful consideration, we’ve made the decision to discontinue our daily Free Play contest platform, effective Monday, April 27, 2026.

We’d like to sincerely thank everyone who has participated in these contests over the past five years. It’s been a pleasure offering them to our community, and we hope you’ve enjoyed the experience.

If you’re an active contest player, you can view the latest leaderboards here. These will remain available until April 27.

We’re excited about what’s ahead! Create a Covers account and get added to our mailing list to receive new contest announcements coming this summer.

Our in-house contests aren’t affected by this closure. You can continue testing your handicapping skills with Covers’ free Streak Survivor, King of Covers, and Office Pool contests so make sure to sign up today!

I’ve been part of the Covers community for about 20 years, and I felt compelled to share a few words.

First of all, thank you. The platform you’ve built — especially the Free Play contests — has been more than just a game. For many of us, it has been a space to learn, test strategies, exchange ideas, and grow as bettors without financial pressure.

It was never just about winning. It was about the process.

That’s why the decision to discontinue the daily contests is, honestly, very disappointing. Not from a place of entitlement — but from appreciation of what this space has meant to so many over the years.

Covers has always stood out because of its community. These contests were a big part of that.

I truly hope whatever comes next keeps that spirit alive — a place where both experienced and newer members can continue to engage, learn, and challenge themselves.
