If you've watched any Reds games in the last month you'd know they aren't hungry for anything except maybe the post game spread.  If you like them tonight fine but stick to the numbers......to just wildly speculate that they'll suddenly be hungry for a win because the Washington Nationals (of all teams) are coming to town is a little ridiculous in my opinion.

MrB - Thanks for the write up....will probably play for a little less than normal, in case Arroyo is distracted from dealing with the media about his prior use of banned supplements (PED's)

I've been doing "wild" speculation like that for years now and it seems to be working for me.  Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go tip the two hard working lads who just finished polishing my Bentley (the burgundy one, not the black one).

Haven't you ever heard the term "drop in class"?  I've seen it thousands of times before - a bad team gets through a tough part of their schedule against a series of strong teams, and when they finally get a fellow weak opponent, they play their asses off because they're excited about playing in a very winnable game.

Doesn't always work, but it's a profitable angle in all four major sports.

    Bator,

Take a look at the oak raiders tonight. Love the Line movement. I think Oak is a solid play tonight. I would imagine Dallas being a huge public play tonight.

Played Cincy RL-1. If they win by one so be it.

Bator does the fact that the yanks got embaressed in Seattle last yr bother u? Morrow almost no-hit them and they got outplayed the whole series.. This marked the end of their season and they took alot of heat for giving up on an awful Seattle team last yr.. I think the Yanks see the opportunity to pick up a game on the Sox and will look to capitalize on a team who played 14 innings last night and used almost their whole pen.. U said cc is going 6? When was the last time he didnt go 7 innings? He goes 7 no matter what.

What makes you think baseball is such a situational sport bator. Just curious?  I am not sure the same factors work for baseball as they do for basketball and football.  It is more of an effortless game, just my two cents.  The pitcher(s) are always gonna try their hardest as well.

It's very situational. When you have 162 games in the season you obviously can't go all out every single game.

Some series mean a lot more than others for many reasons at many different times.

Football is as close to a must-win situation every week as you'll find so it doesn't belong in the same sentence as basketball or baseball.

Because human beings are involved.  Not every game has a bettable "situation" that we can take advantage of, but there are still plenty of them in baseball.

Why would a player be less likely to get a hit one day though compared to the next is my question?  The pitcher is always resting the day before his start as well, so not sure how that would factor in.  Again, you don't have to show much effort in baseball to be successful, lets be honest here.

When human beings are involved...anything can happen-------Like forgetting to make your bets. Fuuuhhk!
I had so much interaction going on between threads I spaced the Reds and the Marlins bets, and a Reds RL, Marlins  RL, M's parlay. Yikes!
I won't root against you guys to make my head feel better tho.
    Ugh.
3-0 and 2-0 respectively. Nice start.

I don't see why that Seattle series marked "the end of their season."  They were two games behind the Twins for the wild card when that series began and they were still two games behind when it was over.  It's not like they were disagreced in a 3-game sweep.  And as for the Ken Morrow game, wasn't that just typical of the Yankees?  Getting stymied as big favorites in the first game of a road series by a pitcher no one has any regard for?  Hey, that's a lot like tonight's situation!

The Yankees just swept the Red Sox in four straight, getting major revenge for what happened between the two teams earlier this season, and in the process, they stretched their lead over Boston from 2.5 games to 6.5 games.  I don't think they're too worried about 2nd place Boston right now.  Are Yankee fans worried about Boston right now?  I doubt it, and I doubt the Yankees are, either.

I think it does.  Situations vary greatly from week to week in football.  Football is the nuts for situational betting!

What an insult to baseball players everywhere.  You sound like you've never played the game in any kind of organized way.
