We will see. What was the prevailing wind at Tropicana? H-A made a big difference to Garza. Will Wrigley be as kind to a fly ball pitcher with a prevailing wind from the South in a hitters park?

But pitching at Wrigley doesn't automatically mean he'll be pitching with bad wind. We know that wind can work both ways. And it's not like every start he makes will be with 20+ mph wind blowing out. I think it's a whole lot easier to pitch in 5 games with the wind blowing out than it is to pitch on fast turf fields as well as Baltimore, Boston and New York. Add the fact that they get to face the Pirates, Astros and the Cards (aside from Holliday and Pujols). He faces much easier lineups than what he gets in the AL East.

But you're right...we will see. We have seen pitchers not make the transfer well (Zito). But not many.

1 Konerko - MVP type season last year. Picks it as good as anybody I've seen at 1st base. Saves a lot of errors. Quickly moving up the white sox career leaderboard in most offensive categories and may pass Big Frank in homers, rbi's, hits, and more before he's done. That's saying a lot considering Frank is hands down the best player in franchise history.

2 Dunn - Pencil him in for at least 35 homers and 100 rbi's. Probably better than that in his 1st year in the better offensive league and a hitters park. While falling to 22nd in the majors in walks taken last year, he was 2nd in MLB 2 years and 1st 3 years ago. When healthy, he finished in the top 10 in walks taken in 7 consecutive years from 2002-2009. (Not counting '03 as he missed 46 games but would have cracked 100 had he played the full year). Major offensive threat that isn't much of a defensive liability anymore since he'll be at DH most of the year.

3 Rios - Great year last year. Mixture of some power and speed while playing some solid defense. 30-30 potential.

4 Thornton - One of the best setup men in the game. Year after year he just gets the job done. Guys like this are irreplaceable and you don't know what you're missing until they're gone. He may become the closer this year.

5 Danks - Just 25 years old he's become the best pitcher in a solid starting rotation. Three straight years of a sub 3.80 era in a hitter's park in the AL is solid. Every year of his career he's won more games than the previous year and set his career high at 15 last season.

6 Peavy - Only reason he's not higher is because of injury. While his overall era may not show it last year, I still believe he's an ace in the league despite leaving that ballpark in San Diego. His overall road numbers proves he doesn't need that big ballpark to be successful, A few years he was just as good or better on the road than he was at home. After a rough start to last year he was starting to get into a groove before the injury hit him. He went 5 for 5 in quality starts in June including a 21 inning scoreless streak. He may start the year on the DL.

7 Beckham - He may be #1 before the season is over. He has all the potential in the world and has shown flashes of elite level. I love the way the ball jumps off his bat and the way he uses the whole field.

8 Alexei - Robbed of the gold glove last year imo and is one of the better offensive shortstops in baseball.

9 Buehrle - He may not be flashy and he may not blow people away but year after year he does his job. 200+ innings in all 10 seasons as a starter. Only 1 year in 10 did he finish with more losses than wins and that year he went 12-13. Double digits in wins in all 10 years making him the 3rd active pitcher to have 10 straight years of 10+ wins. Sub 5 era all 10 years. Sub 4 era in 7 of 10. He works faster than any pitcher in the league keeping the defense on their toes. He's won back to back gold gloves. He has 3 all star appearances, a world series ring, a perfect game, and a no-hitter under his belt.

10 Sale - Another kid with great potential. He shot to the big leagues in a matter of 2 months last year and instantly impressed. In 23.1 innings he finished with a 1.93 era, .185 baa, and struck out 32, He may start the year off in the rotation depending on Peavy's health and who the other options are.

 

of course there should be loling at him, career 4.45 era with almost as many blown saves as saves..he's aight but hasn't proved anything as a closer..but really i'm not so much loling at him as i am laughin that the team is so bad that he's even in the top 10...

The cardinals have a sensational top 5 players but its slim pickens after that, with the teams payroll its gonna be hard to keep this team togethor after this season

In my opinion pujols should get 8 years 240 million after all ryan howard signed an extension last year at 5 years 125 million - pujols is definetely worth 30 million if ryan howard gets 25 million

I'd love to see him get a chance to close and keep Thornton as the setup man. This kid's delivery is so funky...but the key word is kid. He spent like 3 months in the Minors?

yuice and newdarkday, as a loyal Cubs fan I must say Sean Marshall deserves a top 10 spot, and newdarkday, you don't even put him in your honorable mention section? Is that a joke?

Less than 3 months. It's funny because when he arrived at camp the other day, as he's walking out of the clubhouse he couldn't even find where the field was because he's never even been through a spring training before and yet he was able to do what he did at the big league level last year. It would be great to see him close and leave Thornton as the setup guy where he's excelled for years now.

I remember that show on the MLB Network called "The Club". Great show by the way. And I remember seeing the first call between Kenny Williams and Chris Sale when Williams called him after he was drafted and said that he wants him to be a part of their current plans. I doubt either of them actually thought he'd be up there THAT quick.

 

I'm not sure the Royals have 10 major league caliber players on their roster

Just gross after that.....maybe some of these Brewers will be OK, the shortstop and center fielder could be OK. Hochevar is the opening day starter ......Francis is going to get murdered in the AL, won't get any run support either. If his arm doesn't fall off, he has the potential to lose 20....I have to think the league will figure out Chen and he will revert to back to gas can form, but not before he sucks me in about three times at +180 or more  

Otherwise, I'm about ready for Hosmer, Moustakas, Myers and the pitchers, but I think we're still a few months or a year away. I'd have traded Soria for Montero.....but I don't blame KC for not doing it. Gonna be a real tough year to be a KC fan.....even tougher than usual. I believe in what they are trying to do, and feel like they have a chance.....but it's no sure thing. Hosmer and Moustakas will both be up this summer it sounds like. Interested to see them in the big leagues.
