Great thread imho, let me add some points as a 5 year gambler, unfortunately on a more degenrate side rather than professional
I turned $500 to$5700 in last three months only playing ncaa basketball then my book kindly closed my account thankfully accepting to pay(hopefully they didnt give me hassle of not sitting on my winnings) anyways then in three months i lost all in mlb, and this was my first season bettint mlb mainly playing overs and losing. What i learned is i have made some mistakes during this six months
1 i got too emotional, when both winning in ncaa and losing in mlb , any gambler degenerate and professional must be able to afford to lose before placing bet, that is number one rule imo more important than bankroll management, ow you end up winning maybe but with too much stress and losing the most important thing your health
2 i became degenerate, chased losses didnt give break after winning
3 this hobby profession whatever you call it cannot be looked for to win money, i trust people saying they bought home or got bankrupt but lets say i bought a home, what is the fun of achieving sth in life? You get this fun from your job, even though it pays less but gambling pays much. To be honest it happened to me only couple times but i dont get happy or too excited after i win too many times in a row, what i mean is gambling doesnt become fun anymore for me.
