I am very confident that human greed has been intertwined with sports for some time. I have heard numerous stories from former players, as well as have seen my share of sketchy happenings. It pays to be aware of this, as you can profit from being on the right side. I've also seen some shady posters here who are definitely here to sway (much like online forums for stocks). BUT, i have a very hard time believing that the players are involved. A guy like Kershaw is not going to lose on purpose. Even last night, Verlander was throwing away juiced balls the entire game. If he was trying to lose he would have been tossing those balls to help the dodgers. I think the Managers and Umpires (coaches and refs in the other sports as well) are the ones in on it. Too many loose ends if the players are involved too. That's my 2 cents.

I respect where you are coming from amigo and I'm not here to sway you in any way. I also appreciate your approach too. You didn't bite my head off or tell me I was crazy for my opinions. This subject gets the purists all worked up and I've never understood why. The first step in belief is an open mind yet no purist will never believe that pro sports can, have and will be f@xed as long as money is involved. Question: if I were to offer you a life of riches, fame and power and in exchange you had to periodically play to the best of the "powers that be" would you do it? The answer has and will always be YES. There are no loose ends really. It's quite simple. It's a trade off simply because these pro sports leagues live and die by the ratings. And those ratings are dependent upon the books and the money that is generated gambling. If people don't watch or wager, the sports falls.  If people are so naive to think that the books, the leagues and some very corrupt individuals aren't all in tied together in these cash cow leagues, I can't help ya. As for refs and umpires, no doubt in my mind they are involved as well. Coaches too. Again, I have no tangible evidence at this point that proves my stance right BUT neither do the purists. It's that simple. Just remember: All it takes to sway a game is a blown call or a few calls. 99% of a game can be pure but it can be that 1% that isn't. Lastly, the purists will say: if it's f@xed why don't you know the outcome of every game? Great question: My rebuttle has and always will be: that's the beauty of picking a side. I can't tell you the moments in every single game. But first believing that these games can and have been f@xed and then accepting whatever outcome after; that comes with the territory. I've lost on f@xes and I've won on f@xes- can't have one without the other. If one thought last year's super bowl was pure or if the NBA FINALS two years ago were pure or even the World Series last year....I will simply smile and say good luck going forward.

Lol good stuff achilles. Too many questions in too many games makes a lot of things like makes you scratch your head like what that makes no sense. Example lakers game last night pistons had three free throws ebtire night game goes under 1. Redskins in prime time well I will tell you twice cousins like clockwork throws throws twice to wrong team total goes over last minute and one was for kc total and over. Raiders vs kc never seen so many penalties last minute but you can tell they were gift wrapping raiders a win to keep it entertaining at least but very sketchy. If none of us ever gambled we could care less about these strange things or coincidences or like some say just bad calls or that was legit. We all perceive things differently with many opinions. MLB and nfl are billion dollar corporations so there are games that seem fair or legit and some seem completely tampered with but with so many millions of dollars on the line sometimes I personally don’t feel things are up for chance there is human intervention. Anyhow that’s just my opinion I definitely don’t think all games are unfair but I definitely question many things on certain games.

agreed. too much money involved for it not to be tainted. Baseball has been notorious for fixes all the way back to early 1900s. Soccer all over the world is plagued with corruption and match fixing scandals. the NFL has been sued in the supreme court for match fixing, and they defended themselves as being an ENTERTAINMENT league that is allowed to do that. (look it up, under the same corporation guidelines as the WWE). I dont even need to say anything about the NBA because they are so blatant about it. All you can do is keep an open mind and try to be on the right side. I just feel that IF players are involved, it is only high profile ones. There is way too much turnover of players for it to stay relatively quiet until now. GL tonight

Hey Achilles What's up Buddy? Finally getting a chance to chime in and say hey as Halloween and kids kept this dad busy.

Way to follow the script Achilles I pounded away before the game at a -122 and also in game live +160 when they were down 1-0.

Thanks for being one of the BEST on this forum and giving insights as well as mostly winners to those who believe and to those that don't that have their own agenda which as I can see as well as you and love it when they disbelieve your analysis and it bites them in the face in the end.

Can't wait to see what you have tonight but I have a feeling and could be wrong about how I see it scripted  but I do know it's a nice money maker if it wins.

When I win Money it's my money and NOT house money

Achilles, I'm very confident you're on the right track in regard to your views on the purity of sports. I appreciate your take and agree with much of it.

You have absolutely nailed the world series to this point. I think you have just one loss and it was the 13-12 game that LA should have won 10 different times.
Looking forward to your Game 7 pick.

Am I missing something? Have you made your game 7 pick yet Achilles? I don't think I saw one yet but just wanted to make sure. I have a feeling you are thinking Dodgers haha. Good luck man, incredible playoff run you are on!

Both of these teams are in a rythum as far as wins & losses

& the Astros are in the win mode of the rythum tonite. The dodgers
have not won 2 straight in the series . Dodger pitcher is off a loss
& Hou pitcher is off a win, this would favor dodger pitcher. However,
LAD had a losing Sept & Hou had a winning Sept, most all the World
Series winners had a winning Sept record. Just a few things to ponder regarding tonites game. As for the total 7.5, whenever Hou
has lost the next game either went Over or a push.

76-52 overall, 5-1 in the World Series and 23-10 in the playoffs:

Game 7 World Series: Dodgers/Astros Play:

Game 7. All the marbles. Winner take all. All men on deck. Who you got? In one corner, you got the Astros. A analytics dream. They get on base, they don't strike out and they are great from top to bottom. On top of that, they are playing fir a fan base that has experienced a lot of loss and agony. How cool would it be if they won it all? In the other corner, you have a team that I believe went 42-7 in 49 games?! Best team in baseball. A team that was made up for this specific moment. Year after year they've choked yet now they get their chance at home. Gonna be a good one!

A few things here: expect the unexpected tonite. We saw Kershaw up 4-0 lose, we saw over 20 runs scored in a game and we saw Verlander wheeling and dealing last nite yet he hit a batter and lost the game. Scripted, f@xed? Eh. We can argue all nite about it but let's focus on tonite. Who is gonna be the hero(s)? Will Darvish get his redemption? Will Kershaw get another shot to rewrite a few pages of his legacy? Will turner show up? Will Ken Giles be a joke again or will he surprise and dominate late? In capping this series I promised myself to take each game one at a time. 5-1 so far. Reason being: you have to be able to see how things unfold and you have to see the seeds planted and the bs build. Well we are here. What I saw Kershaw and Jansen do in game 5 ("choke") lead me to place my most secure bet ever in taking the Dodgers last nite. Tonite: it's about a legacy and it's about a team that truly expects to be there. Last year the better team imo lost...the Indians. I called the series before it happened. This year....I think the better team wins and the so called Cinderella team waits for another year. I've said it before and I will end it with this again tonite: Either the Dodgers will have the lead or they will be tied; you will see Kershaw and you will see him close the door. Last year's NBA season was about Durant as was last year's SuperBowl about Brady. This year, it's about Kershaw and as much as I want to take the Astros, I'm going with him and the support he has. If he would have won game 5 after being up 4-0, no way I place this bet. But because of the "struggle" there, I gotta see it through. ITS BEEN A GREAT RIDE THIS YEAR. CALK ME WHAT YOU WANT, JUDGE ME....ALL GOOD. WHAT MATTERS IS PRODUCTION ON HERE AND HOPEFULLY WE CAN END THIS SERIES WITH OUR 6TH WIN OUT OF 7.

Kaufee: thanks amigo. As for the game so far, call me crazy but I'm not surprised one bit at the start of this game. Darvish has to struggle for Kershaw to come in and for me, Darvish never really factored into tonite. As for the Dodgers offense, if McCullers is in for 5, Dodgers will touch him up. Dodgers have to keep this a 3-0 game though. A 4th run is big if the Astros get it. This is getting good!

In the history of best-of-7 MLB playoff series, teams which post a win order of WLLWLW through six games irrespective of site (such as the Los Angeles Dodgers) have a 0-4 Game 7 record.

Achilles Much respect brother but I'm really surprised you didn't follow the script and the Houston Hurricane Harvey factor. (I was sure that you would) I played Dodgers in game live +118 because you liked the dodgers and you were the one who had the hot hand thru out these playoffs so to win or lose it was my choice so I didn't question my plays today and rode with them with NO regrets. Nice run you had bud and I know it sucks to end the season on a sour note but my big play was yesterday and I know yours was as well. See you on the football side soon Achilles and once again some mighty fine handicapping amigo

Well, I will be the first to admit that I was wrong. Congrats Houston backers. Very happy for Houston and those fans so this one doesn't sting as much. Houston deserved the trophy as the Dodgers just couldn't manufacture any runs with all those opportunities last nite. Morton was a beast as well. Great pitching by him and Hinch deserves a lot of credit for rolling the dice on him. Great run this year in the playoffs and during the regular season. See ya guys next year and good luck going forward.
