I don't think Houston is composed as a team to win a World Series
they are really not a team with a very good bullpen & are mostly
a run scoring team. Lad is really made to win a World Series
they have a bullpen + pitching + defense that is what it takes
in October to win a series.

In coming to a conclusion to who I think wins this game, it's very clear to me that this game is a MUST win for both teams. The Astros for obvious reasons and anyone who thinks it's not for them is nuts. Winning 4/5 against the Dodgers if you lose this game ain't happening. Sorry. This is the World Series and with a suspect bullpen, it would be tough. As for the Dodgers, why isn't it a MUST win for them too? Houston has yet to lose at home and with the next 3 there, the Dodgers want this one bad. They would have a choke hold on this series. So with verlander, many are banking on him being the verlander of his last 8 starts. Don't think for one second that the dodgers aren't extra motivated here to take on their top horse. IF they can get this one tonite, we may be talking sweep. At the end of the day, the low line has lined up Astros backers at the window but people maybe forgetting the Dodgers dominance at home and the fact that Rich Hill is a pretty good pitcher himself. Tough game here.

I've been going back and forth on this one all day.  Very tough game to pick a winner, especially since I've been on the Verlander train the whole playoffs and banking the $$$.  However, all train rides eventually end and tonight's the night for me.  It comes down to exactly what you say:  This is a MUST WIN for the Dodgers just as much it is for Houston.  I'll take the slight underdog hometeam.  LAD -105, $750 to win $715.

I think balls will be thrown. And bats will be swung. Both teams will wear different colors.

72-51 overall and 19-9 in the playoffs:

World Series Game 2: Astros/Dodgers Play:

I went with Kershaw last nite simply because his legacy was on the line. Aside from some clutch hitting by Turner, it was a closer game than I had liked. This is one of the tougher ones to cap because I really like the Dodgers at home BUT I can't denounce Verlander and the success he has had with the Astros. With that, the Astros are a very patient hitter and I do think they match up well against Hill. Hill likes his curve ball but if that isn't hitting the majority of the time, he will resort to his fast ball which is where I think the Astros could touch him up. Although a must win for both teams imo, I think the Astros know they need to help their horse out the way the Dodgers helped Kershaw last nite. Verlander, as much as he likes to attack the hitters will have to make sure he hits his corners and gets ahead of the count. I think he does tonite.

We have a series all! And I'm excited. I love both of these teams because they just keep coming. Well managed and very deep teams full of great leaders. I recently saw an article on espn I believe that ranked the greatest World Series of all time. Last year's topped out at number one and as great as that series was, if this years is gonna provide more games like last nite, were in for another treat. The glaring thing that sticks out here is the fact that ALL the bats for Houston are starting to get hot. Stringer specifically. The dude seems to have his swing back and that could spell trouble for the Dodgers. You'd have to think their confidence is riding high too considering they got to Jansen. See it.....believe it.....Last nite the Astros dominated that game. They gave up only 4 hits going into the 10th and they had the leadoff guy on 9 times. If not for the brim of a baseball hat, I'm not sure it would have been that close. Game 3 will be a great because Houston has yet lose at home and the Dodgers for the first time in the playoffs will have some adversity. Looking forward to seeing their approach. Can't wait for the game!

Thoughts on bringing Jansen in the 8th inning. I'm not a baseball expert just was wondering when they brought him in early if it would back fire on them. Enjoy reading your post. Thanks!

I think the bigger issue last nite was taking Hill out after 60 pitches. The dude was rolling. Maybe it tipped the hand though of what Roberts plans to do when this series goes long. He wants his pitchers fresh and if needed, they'll be thrown into middle relief. In taking him out, the Dodgers used all their bullpen which put a lot of pressure on Jansen to get 6 outs. It reminded me of game 5 with the Cubs putting pressure on Davis; Davis got the save but like Jansen he ran into issues. 28 scoreless innings from the pen is insane but with a team like the Astros, it's hard to keep their bats down for a series. Another glaring issue and this dude continues to make it a journey when he's in is Giles. I don't know what his malfunction is but it seems like every time I see him in the playoffs he's giving up walks and hits. This will become an issue going forward because as good as the Astros are, their pen is nowhere close to the Dodgers m. With the series shifting to the AL side, the DH comes into play which is one more batter for the Astros pitchers to face.

Let me get this straight: you've come in here and in my other threads and you support the douche trolls who try and troll me; now you want to know who I am picking? Haaaaaaaaa. This site is nuts. IF I could, and no I'm no king on here but I'd make it so that certain people could not see my picks. If I could do that, I'd be posting an hour before every game and I'd be posting all my plays. Go bug somebody else bud.

I look at this series and I think about Kershaw. You have to. Imo it's about him if the dodgers are to win this thing. IF Houston wins tonite, I feel the Dodgers have no choice but to pitch Kershaw in game 4. Why? Well....sure he'd be going on shortened rest but if the Dodgers are down 2-1, I feel game 4 is a must win for them. Who you want on the mound in basically a must win game? You pitch Kershaw game 4 rather than game 5 simply because from game 4 to game 7, Kershaw would get more rest than if he pitched game 5. Also it gives you more options in game 7 considering that rest.

Think about SF and how Baumgartner pitched three times in the World Series and won all 3. What better way to silence the critics than to pitch 3 times and win all 3. Kershaw is writing his legacy as we speak; is there any other pitcher you'd want in pivotal games?! People would garbage up if he dominated all 3 too! And no....I'm not counting middle relief as one of them. This is the World Series and with how rested Kershaw is from the DL stint,  I see no issue pitching him game 4 and game 7 if necessary. I feel tonites game sets the tone for so many matchups going forward and it forces the hand of each manager to see what their grand plan is.

Meaningless stat. None of those 14 games happened during this season so it's not even the same team. Also, none happened in the playoffs let alone in a world series. This is a complete different scenario.

73-51 overall and 20-9 in the playoffs:

    Game 3: Astros/Dodgers Play:

Dodgers backers are salivating over the plus line with Darvish pitching especially with McCullers as his opposition. Well...McCullers have pitched well in the playoffs as his Darvish. But as we've seen NOTHING is a for sure yet I feel like so many think Darvish is automatic. Confidence is hard to cap yet how can we denounce what happened last game? I'm not putting too much emphasis on last game but I saw Springer, Altuve, Correa and the crew come alive against the "for sure unhittable Dodgers bullpen".....Again, NOTHING is for sure. So tonite, I think we see a very pumped crowd and I think we see a focused Astros team AT HOME. They'd home field run will come to an end in this series but I don't see it happening tonite.
